Heya all.

Just wondering for a breeding project - If a plant is applied with Colloidal silver for the purpose of sexual reversal (female -> male) does it reverse the entire plant or only the applied area?

Say I have a female plant and only apply colloidal silver to 1 branch for the purpose of pollen, does only the 1 branch begin to reverse and produce male characteristics or the entire plant?

If it does reverse the entire plant, does it affect DNA/RNA in any way or is it only the colloidal silver blocking our female hormones so the plant produces male characteristics (pollen)?

A big thanks anyone who knows this. :fire: :smoke:

My limited understanding is it depends. If the only a few branches are sprayed then it will only reverse those branches. If the entire plant is sprayed, it will reverse the entire plant. I have seen one grower document spraying just one stem on AFN and the sprayed stem produced stamen while the un-sprayed stems produced pistils. Pollen was collected from it and the flowers were harvested as well.

Yes, only the parts you spray will reverse sex. I have done it that way several times and have not had any problems with males or herms from the resulting seeds. Just do NOT pollenate the buds on the plant with reversed branches, that will produce hermies

even if it only reversed the one branch you are still going to have silver running through the entire plant , just not enough to reverse the entire plant , and i myself wouldnt want to smoke that

i strongly advise complete reversal , you get more pollen and more seed

its all up to you though

Oh yeah, the buds do taste harsh and make will make your lungs hurt if you reverse a branch and smoke the buds from that plant.

The reason for only reversing a branch is so I can see the bud formation and decide if I want to use it in a cross. I tried smoking the non reversed buds once and will never do it again.

i like your way of thinking

maybe make an edible with it next time insted of smoking it ?

Great idea! I have been wasting so much bud. I guess since you can drink cs it is safe to eat. I'll try making edibles next time. Hopefully I don't eat too much and turn blue lol.
Reversing a single branch is a nice shortcut for making good selections. It's not foolproof but it does speed up the process.

Alright thanks for all the knowledgeable replies. Some great information getting passed along here!

I have one more question. With CS can you dilute the solution with water, and water the plant with it (if you're doing a soil grow?) and will the plant absorb the CS like it would absorb it when it is sprayed? (if you wanted to reverse the whole plant that is.)

No. You must spray the leaves of the plant. The leaves must absorb the silver to block ethelyn so it will grow male flowers.
