Lighting Does anyone here actually know about LEDs?

i like the look of the chilled kits i bet there some serious bits of kit what you reckon a 270 strip kit or a 320 chilled kit to go with my telos-008

that would be kicking ass... I think the puc's are now at the top of the Migro LED test board

Hey all. Bin away for a bit.

I have a KingBrite "HLG" 550 v2 with LM301B and CREE reds. Happy with the board. Heatsink is basic. Overall very happy with the board, quality, price and speed of response and delivery time. Board temp runs about 113F and no need to cool except when the plants grow so fast that they are hard to keep away from the board. That's in coco, [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] airpots, manifolded to bushes and fertigation 6x per day. Yes, manifolding works for autos.

I need info about LED diodes too. So, I'm looking a "spydrx" from the same area of the world. It offers top bin SAMSUNG CRI90 for 3500-6000K mix plus CREE XP-E2 660nm. I'd appreciate any comments from a reliable and knowledgeable commentator on these diodes please. The OSRAM of the the SpydrX Plus would be ideal, but...

Thanks in advance for real input here.

Hey, so I just purchased the KingBrite 600
It comes with :
1512 pcs Samsung lm301H, + 168pcs cree 660nm+24pcs epistar uv+24pcs epistar ir

I'm assuming it's close to the same light you have except and upgraded version. Mine comes with a HLG-600H-48B driver and a "separate heatsink: 940*195*10mm, 2pcs;

I paid $685 shipped

I'm wondering what size is your tent? And what is the temperature inside? Or did you mount the driver externally? I'm buying this for a 5x5 and hoping I can cover 9-12 three gallon pots

The LEDs run about 113F at the board. I have the driver on top of the board as they suggest in their information, plus the dimmer there too. A fan under the board works really well, ie from the side of the tent between the canopy and the board. 600W will be intense, but I'm probably going to buy a 670W spydr-like board in the next day or so!

I can't remember the AB terms on drivers, but either one of A or B means dimmable and not sure which any more.

Temp in the tent I run at 75-80F or so and humidity most of the time in the 50-60% range, sort of target about 55% in flower now. I kind of vaguely follow a VPD chart of a -2*C difference from canopy-leaf temp (measured with an infrared thermometer). But, VPD is not the complete answer in my opinion. Aside from that, strains differ in their preferred environment.

Here's a quote (not my info, but this is what I follow): "There have been a series of tests carried out on cannabis in 2008 and 2009, which revealed excellent data on the ideal temperatures for photosynthesis*. This research has shown that the ambient temperature is best between 75°- 83°F (24°- 28°C). Above 86°F (30°C), enzymes lose their shape and functionality. If temperatures drop below 75°F (24°C), enzymes do not operate efficiently."

Basically the reason to drop temps for flower and later stages is prevention of mold and pathogens, until pretty late on. I guess that is a personal risk issue whether to drop the RH, at least to some degree until near harvest.

White Widow (again), Gorilla 4x4x7 extendable to 8' tent, coco/perlite, [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] airpots, GH nutes, auto-water now 7x per day @25secs per fert, auto-drain to sump to pump to house waste drain, BloomBros halos 6", mid-flower 3 plants in 4x4 totally fill the space to ~4', manifolded, 480W QB at max height ~50-60K Lux (not an accurate measure for LED lights, but it's all I have), 6 -6" clip fans, Dehumidifier & AC through DIY heat exchanger, Inkbird controllers temp/rh, 6" high CFM extract carbon can filter, 4" intake fan, HydroFarm Autopilot digital timers to time in "seconds" intervals for nutrients and hours for lights

Idcsay the info is close, Ambient temps do not take in to consideration IR. Leaf temp is a more accurate measurement. Hps needs an ambient temp 7 to 10 degrees lower than an led, but the leaf temp remains the same due to the infrared.

Those temps are pretty close to my leaf temps 78 to 82, but my ambient temps are 80 to 86 to maintain this.

When that study was done, LED grow lights couldn't cut it for quality growing yet.

Thanks for the input. My leaf temps measured by infrared thermometer are running 71-72F, so the drop VPD chart is -2C, so 9/5x2~3.6*F difference. 71+3.6=74.6 72+3.6=75.6 which is pretty close to my "target" temp of 75F, usually a bit on the + side, but up and down as the DeHumid and AC cycle, as is the humidity of course. With LED, I do run extra reds, but I figure the IR isn't really significant. Correct me if I'm way off on that idea.

I've scowered the Internet and cannot find the answers I'm looking for.
I am looking on Alibaba for a QB. I came across a 600w HLG build. They told me the 600w qb is no longer in production. But told me they designed a light to replace it. It is a 6 strip light bar. It however does not utilize samsung diodes. It uses diodes called seoul diodes.
My question is, would this still be a great light for a 5x5 tent, even though the diodes are not samsung?
