Do you lower DLI in final weeks?

Hi AFNer's
On the Photone website they have a chart pertaining to DLI over a 15 week grow with autoflowers. It shows lowering the DLI the last few weeks. I never heard of this, is this the norm, and I was just in the dark about it. Or is it just an opinion.

Nope, I ramp the light up initially, but once up to max for the grow, it stays there. As mentioned by someone else earlier, I keep lights as high as possible while achieving the desired PPFD at the tops. The same PPFD at the tops while having the lights as high as possible provides more light lower in the canopy. :pighug:

I began lowering light intensity when the plants reach a point of taking significantly less water.

1When I began working commercially I found out it was common operating procedure to lower them which is line with the fact that c02 levels are lowered in the final weeks as well.

We would reduce our ppfd from 1200 to 800 in the final weeks and while the harvest team came through. It preserves terpenes and aroma.

I raise the lights and turn them down, but by that time I have already installed my side lighting led strips for the lower buds to get their portion of light.
I was wondering Talon, what has been your experience's with backing off lighting towards end of grow, in regards to predicted seed to harvest times advertised by the breeders? Do you think it has gotten you closer to that mark.

I don't think what I did with the overhead lights really had any affect on harvest time other than maybe a slight delay as the lowers finished off with the side lighting, so that everything was ready at the same time. The breeders harvest time can only be used as a suggestion, the differences in media, light, nutrients, heat etc all play into when the plant/flowers are ready. I let the plant dictate that.
