I have done a number of plant grows now, and have come to a
conclusion about my lighting, that my lighting needs to be updated. I have a 250,200 & 125 CFL's currently and I found them adequate to start with, but the truth about them eventually creeps in. The plants need a more aggressive lighting system to take the plants to their maximum potential. I am swapping them for HID Sodium (High Intensity Discharge) light(s). I have a small space to grow in, so I am going for a 600W HID Sodium. These can be sourced for about £120.00. I found the 125/200 red/blue to be not too hot to grow quickly at all. My 250 red CFL is better, but it does not perpetuate growth too quickly as well.
CFL's appear to me to be a technology that fails to live up to the hype. They stunt growth and fluff up the bud. HID lights make for bigger plants and provide more snow on top. IS it time for you to make the choice?
