Tent: 32"x32"x63"
Light: SpiderFarmer SF2000 Currently at 28 inches
4gal pots
Fox Farms HF/Perlite 70/30%
10inch fan intake, 6 inch fan hanging
Humidifier keeping the tent at 55% and around 70-75 F
Using GH Flora Trio
Seeds: Fast Budz Original ChemDawg Auto
Day 1: 1/23/21

This is my second grow ever and first in soil. First month was pretty uneventful. Didn't feed a whole lot as I didn't think I needed to for the first couple weeks. Week three I fed at 1/4 nutes and then 1/2 nutes week 4 and just fed again 3/4 strength yesterday (day 32). My plant has begun the flowering process and I'm noticing that the lower leaves are starting to show significant discoloring and brown spots. None of the new growth is experiencing this brown discoloration. Last feeding my runoff PH was pretty low at around 5.5 (feeding at 6.4). I planned on flushing once the soil dried out a bit but now that I'm seeing this discoloring, I'm wondering if I should sooner.

Looking at some deficiency pictures, it looks like it might be a calmag issue but with being so unexperienced I would love to hear what you guys think. Should I add calmag to the water I flush with? I'm using RO water. image0.jpegimage1.jpegimage2.jpegimage3.jpegimage4.jpegimage5.jpegimage6.jpeg

Thanks for any help or advice you can provide!!

I'm still very much a newbie myself, but I think you're right and it's a magnesium issue. BUT I think it is from the pH and/or a lockout issue. I think you may be overdoing it with the nutes. Trust me, been there, done that, and still doing it :wall:. From lots and lots of reading through these forums, one thing I've learned is that if things are going wrong, your best bet is to not be adding even more stuff into the mix. If I were you, I'd put this over in the infirmary forum (fill out the form!) and see what people say. That's where I always go with any issues, and they help get me straightened out. I'm sure someone will have a much better answer for you than what I can give. Good luck growmie :goodluck:

One thing for sure, stop the nutes for awhile at least. Plain ph'd water the next time the pots dry and need it. See if any new growth continues with markings and spots.

I'm of the opinion the less nutes you use the better.

Thanks a ton my friend. I didn't consider a nutreint lockout issue due to ph but that is a very likely culprit. I will definitely post this to the infirmary (in the correct format as I've been yelled at before lol) Thank you very much for your input :)

Thank you. I will keep an eye out on the new growth and will definitely use just PH'd water for the next couple watering's. Thanks for the response!!

I can see a bit of burn on your tips. Feed less probably

Looks like Phosphorus and Calcium locked out? We will need more information. I will just move this for you to the Infirmary and you just let me know if someone yells at you, --------- unless it was me :haha:

Please fill in this form: (copy and paste part is below, this first one tell what specifically to include)

-Problem: (brief description)
-Medium/grow method: soil; soilless-- coco, or peat based like Promix, etc. (please provide the actual product name); DWC, NFT, etc.
-Feed and supplements used: include brand, dosage/strength, frequency of feeding and watering (alone); method-- by hand, drippers, rercirc' or drain-to-waste,... N-P-K #'s too if you can!
-Water source: RO/DI; tap- dechlorinated-?..... EC or TDS reading; pH (don't bother with this on RO/DI, do bother with TDS/EC though to confirm it's working well enough)
-Strain and age
-Climate: night and day ambient T and RH%; res' temperatures; any extremes in T/RH% exposure
- Light used: HID, LED, COB, combo of,... wattage; light cycle hours (20/4, 18/6 , etc.); distance to tops....
-Additional info: PH in the root zone. How long have the plants been affected?...How fast did symptoms appear?... Anything else you think might be relevant..

--Pictures including WHOLE PLANT PICS, and troubled leaves.. use normal light or flash as other light sources ruin color rendering, critical for diagnostics! Turn off the grow lights.

Thanks very much for moving this to the more appropriate place!

Problem: Discoloration on lower fan leaves (See pics in first post)

Medium/grow method: Soil: Fox Farms Happy Frog/Miracle Grow perlite 70/30 (Didn't know the perlite had fertilizer in it until it was too late...)

Feed: and supplements used: Flora Trio. I went back and checked my journal to see how much I truly fed and my initail post was a little off. Here is what I have fed so far(all ml/gallon): Day 18 I have 3ml of micro grow and 1ml bloom. Day 24: 5ml micro and grow and 3ml bloom. and on day 32 I fed 7.5ml of micro and grow and 4ml of bloom. (I got all of these figures from an article related to flora trio in soil.)

water source: RO/DI water. Tested and get around 5ppm before mixing nutes in. PH to 6.5. my last feed was around 840ppm.

PH in the root zone: Idk what this means but the ph going in was 6.5 and the first two feedings the runoff ph was around 6.3. The runoff ph last feeding was 5.5 however.

Strain/age: Fast Budz Original Chemdawg auto. Day one was 1/23. Today is day 33

light used: Spider Farmer SF2000 at around18-20 inches above highest point of the plant. 24/0 (I know everyone has an opinion on this. The tent gets down to mid 60's when it's off in my cool basement so I've decided to stick with 24/0 rather than having a dark period)

Climate: 70-75 F with RH now of around 55

Additional info: The discoloration has appeared within the last week. I have recently started LST and also did cut some of the larger fan leaves that were blocking lower bud sites. After doing so, I regretted this decision and will not be doing that until much later in the grow moving forward.

I will post the pics here once more. image0.jpegimage1.jpegimage2.jpegimage3.jpegimage4.jpegimage5.jpegimage6.jpeg

You're feeding way too much.

For veg, use 2ml micro, 3ml grow, 1.5ml bloom per gallon, pH to 5.8

Once the vertical growth stops, transition to 2ml micro, 1.5ml grow, 3ml bloom per gallon, pH 6.1

Thanks for giving me some insight into your feeding amounts! I appreciate the information. Do you feed every other watering?
