Also if you get the hype up for comp and people want in it bad enough they will have to buy them.... So makes me not want to buy anyway and forget comp.
Honestly I can't imagine a better way for Dinafem to produce a quality product. Send out a ton of free seeds for people to do in a Solo cup. Nothing is really lost if they don't work out. I really don't think this comp is just about the "hype". The amount of data they are able to collect this way is invaluable and will only lead to a better product. Tell me what other seed company have you seen make an effort to compile so much data on their products. I think you would be pretty surprised how many bad seed co's are putting out bad product that we don't know about simply because the data isn't all compiled into a single source. The in house testing can only provided a limited amount of info on how it grows in their environment.

So when I sit back and look at the over all picture, I believe Dinafem is doing exactly what I would want as a customer and is setting a higher standard. Really I think everyone win's here, the company and the customer.

I agree!

And by looking at the current data .. nearly everyone has managed to germ their beans (at least all the people i checked that wouldnt usually have a problem. ... don't have a problem)

Looks like either some unlucky beans .... or something else to me!

I also agree with this some seeds regardless of how they look are just not destined for this world I just had a perfect seed pop and do nothing else I also had 1 die for no reason I've got 10 or so left that r looking great so that's wats hard with small amounts of seeds in my opinion 10seeds min so you have a real chance to see wats wat and I know it would be difficult on the seed company but they could do something like we r doing now a solo cup battle and then a separate different plant that you fully document and run in ur normal setup and with 10 seeds you be able to see if it has a bunch of phenotypes or is it stable

Me Too @blue :d5:

There is Nothing like going Balls to the Wall in a Live Test with 40 competitors...:headbang:..there is no where to Hide.

I don't know about you...but I actually expect a Fail percentage.

Highly discussed topic in Globals...what is the Expected/acceptable Fail rate on a cross...?...

Staff say 80-90% germ rate...so..when everyone has germed or failed..we'll tally it up and see.

Also if you get the hype up for comp and people want in it bad enough they will have to buy them.... So makes me not want to buy anyway and forget comp.

Neither competing in the Solo Cup or being on the Test Levels is Compulsory...:smoker:..but..if you stay on the Levels a certain level of Risk is associated with it...especially with new to the market crosses.

If that does not suit your grow routine..let me Know....:headbang:..as I say..Not Compulsory.

I saw Mark was concerned about the germination rates in @KonopCh grow journal. He mentioned doing a test with 500 seeds. I cant think of what more I could want out of Dinafem. At the end of they day it seems that they are just working towards trying to put out the best genetics.

I'm 2/2 with germinating my cookies, but in all fairness they took longer then any other seeds I've done. Even if the germ rates suck, is that just a matter of them picking seeds to early ? And I'm sure that's something they will fix asap going forward.

There is telling the truth about low germination rates, and there is being a dick about it. Let them know there is an issue with the seeds if there is, don't tell everyone how disappointed you are in the company. These are TEST seeds, for testing...including germination testing..that they gave out for free.

Well I didn't see anything wrong worth demotion. Just someone on a high horse wanting to use his almighty power
The staff clearly stated that if there is an issue NOT to flame the vendor, but try to resolve it, or simply report it. You made a whole lot of assumptions about the company in question, including sending testers the lower quality beans. That would make absolutely zero sense...

Hell I'll just drop a mephisto and say its dinafem so they can keep their good name and AFN doesn't disown me over telling the truth about germ failure.
I guess we just don't understand what you are so angry about. Report the issue and I am sure Mark will address it when he comes back from holidays. You seem pretty passionate about it, you could go a step further and collect some data from our solo cup grow journals to give as feed back. I would be interested to have a better idea of what the #'s actually are. I also believe it's not fair to compare this test to any other seed bank. I have personally not seen any other seed bank put themselves under such scrutiny by placing so many of the same seeds in so many different hands to all be examined in one collective place. You really aren't comparing apples to apples here.

I mean no disrespect Stillsmokin, I just don't agree with you here.

If anyone looks back to @mephisto 4/20 drop last year I complained about hermie forgotten strawberries. They never asked for a demotion but they check the batch I had and sure enough they got the same.
As I mentioned a few posts back Mark was going to get them to do a 500 seed test run.

Like I said before this strain has already been tested and is now being sold to the public.
I would bet they did a ton of in house testing. The same way any seed co does. At some point you have to release it to the public and see what happens.
