Here most solo cups seem to be 16-18oz as the regular available at stores.

I can't see 2oz of medium making much difference. Yes this is a competition but also some community fun

i start all my plants in them solo cups so this will be great for me ive never done a solo cup but always wanted to and this gives me the excuse to try it

Like mark said the roots must be fully contained in the solo cup so no DWC. Other then that you should be good.
