I noticed in your sig you're currently smoking (consuming I assume) "Canna-coconut Oil"
I am actually right in the process of making my first batch. I am doing the mason jar method in my crock pot. Did 1 cup of coconut oil to a half oz decarbed 10% 1:1 THC/CBD sativa I recently harvested. 4 hours in and was going to run it to 6 at 180f. Hoping to try a few recipes tomorrow. What's your favorite consumption method? Any advice/tips would be appreciated! Cheers
Consuming. Was. Then moved onto a kind of RSO but with olive oil added.
For the coconut oil, my process was:
1. Decarb in oven for 30 min (for THC strains, I later used 60 min for CBD strains).*
2. Break down the buds. No need to grind too fine. I did about 15 g = 1/2 oz.
3. Put broken buds in a cloth pouch. Finer would be better.
4. Melt the coconut oil, using a double boiler method (keeps it at 100 C). Did 200 ml IIRC.
5. Add the pouch.
6. Keep stirring that oil with the pouch, for ... 8 or 12 hrs, cannot remember. A long time!
7. Keep stirring that oil with the pouch.... goes a bit green / yellow.
8. Remove pouch and strain hard, squeeze.
9. Let it sit and cool, will probably solidify (though my room temp keeps it liquid).
10. Store in fridge.
* I also did 60 min decarb for THC:CBD strains of 1:1 and 1:2, Honey Peach CBD and Industrial Plant CBD.
Your ration of 1/2 oz to one cup is almost exactly the same as mine.
I think 180 F may be too low.
I thought it was 117 C, which is about ... 240 F.
Consumption method. Had to experiment for dosage.
A big heaped teaspoon was about right for me.
I'm not very large, so you may / probably need more!
The buds were middle quality, had crystals, but nothing spectacular.
I just add it to my morning coffee, and add a teaspoon of lecithin.
That dosage will start to set in after about 1 hr, building up to peak around 4-6 hrs.
Then slowly taper off, but can feel the edges about 10 hrs later.
That's pretty much a full days worth.
My present RSO style is after decarb buds in ethyl alcohol 95%.
Then maybe 200 ml alcohol / 15 g = 1/2 oz, running through twice in a cloth pouch.
And using a fine coffee strainer after that to remove finer particles.
Then put the alcohol in double boiler, keeping at 90 C (or whatever alcohol evap temp is).
Once I get down to the last few ml of alcohol, I add about 8-9 ml olive oil.
That's to keep the resultant oil smoother and more liquid.
First time I didn't do that, and the RSO was so damn hard, couldn't get out of syringe...
Ended up giving myself a huge hit because hard to control dosage with such high concentrations...
(I'm guessing that first RSO was in the 80-90% range.)
Add the oil brings it down to maybe 10-20%, easier to heat up from the fridge.
And more flexible in dosage, just a full dropper tube under the tongue.
Depending on strain and quantity of bud, about one full dropper has similar effect to the coconut oil.
