Delta 8?

Buddy of mine bought what he thought was pot yesterday at a vape store in NJ (USA)(normal pot is legal here but you cant buy it in stores). It was cheap for an eighth. It looked like pretty good bud. Even said it was norther lights, and said it had 20% THC.
20% DELTA-8 THC, which apparently is a new trend - sprinkle delta-8 extract on a CBD bud so people get sort of high and they can sell this legally.
Poor guy. I gave him a bag of Sour Stomper cause I felt sorry that he got ripped off lol.
Anyone heard of this new variant?

Yes - they are selling that stuff in some prohibition states in head shops. The same Einsteins selling synthetic D9 THC.

It’s blowing up because it’s not regulated by the gov. The process to extract it uses acids and chemicals and I’d steer way clear of it.

Yeah its all over here where I live. Its marketed as a less intoxicating and less anxiety inducing form of high. They sell it at every gas station (delta 8 vape carts, flower, even edibles.) I have tried it before and it was really underwhelming lol. However when I tried it I tried it with some buddies and some of them said they actually liked it way better than regular flower. Also as far as I know delta 8 literally is extracted with harsh chemicals and acids. Personally I don't like delta 8. It must be good for some people though because I know a couple of long time stoners who switched over to delta 8 completely and will not even smoke regular flower anymore.

I will also say quickly that where I live cannabis is legal, and there's a huge difference in price. 3.5 grams of regular flower is 50$. 3.5 grams of "delta 8 flower" is 5$ and like 7.50 after tax and whatever.

If talking about concentrates the difference is more astounding. 1 gram of regular concentrates is 100$. I'm a med patient so I wouldn't have to care about tax. However with tax its 150$/gram of concentrate. There's headshops and gas stations near me where I've seen 100 Gram jars of delta 8 concentrates for like 150$. So at the least that's 100/gram for regular concentrates, and 1.5/gram for delta 8 concentrates.

So that could be another reason.
