Hello guys. I’m sorry this is like my 4th question :))) I just want to know lol . My girls are like 4 weeks old from germination. And some fan leaves are to big and cover the branches whose will be buds on. Can I cut down like 4-5 fan leaves off her ? I read somewhere that you can’t cut autos as it will strees the plant and make it grow longer . Thank you . I put pictures of the way it looks. I would want to cut few big and yellow fan leaves . And is she showing pre flower ? ( the white hair )

Yes.No.
...and everything in between.
That will be the answers you'll get.
Some remove all the time.I do.
Some never remove leaves but tuck them under.
Some do nothing at all and let them be.
IMO,our plants grown in tents under ideal conditions have way more leaves that they need to catch light.
As usual,ICBW! :pass:

Agree with previous post... I tuck until white flower pistols are quite obvious, then remove fans hiding them about every 4-5 days etc...until about 1wk or so before being moved to UVB torture light, I remove all but the sugar leaves & start flushing during UVB torture till trics turn milky ““white”” then 10% amber for 4-5 days and timmmberrrrrr cut to hang dry 9 days, then into Lg cooler rehydrate to 70% hum. & cure 8 days to 63%hum., then trim sug. leaves & move to glass jars for 2 weeks open daily sev Min.
That’s my process, avg 106-111 days including glass jar final cure...

Oh forgot open cooler daily, don’t want MOLD no no no !!! (I just use a little humidity cheap $5-7 face gauge)

Leaves need light to function.
Light hitting the floor is wasted.
Do as you will.
That's all I've got.

I agree. I generally defoliate very little at early points and once they are big and healthy get a little more aggressive.

Depending on wether or not op will cut lower branches and bud sites will maybe determine if light hits the floor or not...

I wouldn't be pruning any leaves with what looks like a deficiency in progress. Those orange rust spots are concerning.

That's one reason I don't defoliate, no guarantee sometimes that an issue won't pop up. I don't do it in general, waste of my time but if I had air circulation or humidity issues it would be a different story.

@Flexus13 The fan leaves produce the energy for the plant to grow and flower. The plant needs them. This is why it will regrow them after you pick some off. Re-growing fan leaves is wasted energy the plant could be directing to flower making. If you have quality lights, light passes through the leaves to the lower parts of the plant. If you have poor lights (where the practice of defoliating stems from) some canopy defoliating may be indicated. Better yet get good lights.

That said I do defoliate for airflow underneath the plant. I usually do this about mid-flower.

:goodluck:

I think that’s deficiency But I was giving them nutes what the chart says. And still getting worse. Even the chart I think is for photos, and as I understand autos need even less nutes. So maybe it’s nute burn ?
