Good morning St Tom.

@Cannabless You should check what Tom has in his UK Jungle. He is the best IMHO :d5:

Thanks Noisas. The vibe of this forum reminds me of one I frequented as a teenager twenty years ago! Friendly, lots to explore and comfortable.

I thought I'd try a diary and jump in feet first. Partly as a need for homegrown arose (batch of poor outdoor seeds and mildew meant my family supply was dry); but also as part of me trying to become a doer (rather than thinker/worrier) once again. Damn covid and work derailing me!

Anyway, back the the plants! :smoking: attached are pics, day 6 since planting seed and day 3 above ground. Humidity (55) and temp (24) stable. Fan arrives today and humidifier this weekend. Think I'll wait another couple of days before next watering (with first feed) as coco still moist, but checking them with the 'knuckle test'! View attachment 1273167View attachment 1273168
It is a good place. No politics and no religion. We support and offer encouragement to all. It is truly a community for growing cannabis. Glad you are here.

what a view also you've been to the uk haven't you so you can imagine my view as that's paradise to me also i hope you have a super new year my brother
Yes I've been a few times. We have friends in Birmingham who we visit. The weather is going to be wet and cloudy and only a brisk breeze a blowing. Brilliant !!!

Thanks Tom! I really appreciate your offer, and diaries/set up..... Daaaaaamn :worship:

I'm thinking ahead to turning exhaust on. My current inline fan (12 year old, similar to if not RVK, 4") is sufficient for negative air pressure but no way of controlling it. I'm worried it could drop air temp.

Ideally if money wasn't an object I think I'd go for a better fan with built in controller - maybe an AC infinity cloudline t4 or s4? Thought of going larger and dialing down, but don't plan on big grows or increasing grow area.

Other options being to fit separate controller. Looked at Xpelair WAC1 controller (£32) and variac (£55). Looked at cheaper dimmer style options too (varispeed, sms and control freak plug-in), but discounted as was worried about noise/safety.

I'm thinking of waiting and seeing about for this grow sticking with set up (ie no controller); but whacking new fan on credit if needed for maintaining warmth and not overly exhausting tent. Thought new fan as can then keep my old one for redundancy measure.

What do you reckon? New fan, or standalone controller?

i wouldn't cheap it out as some of the fan controllers like the dimmer type make your fan hum like a muthafucker and if i had the cash id go with a built in one but its all about cost but if your serious about keeping your hobby going id go with better equipment especially for when summer comes around

Thanks @St. Tom that's what I'm thinking...to not compromise, especially as the infinity is only £20-30 more than a reasonable stand-alone controller and seems less farting about!

Lush sunset @Nosias , I missed your snap!

Today's update on my young ladies. Thanks to @CannaRuss humidifier suggestion, the humidity is around 75%. Towels worked OK as a stop gap, but humidifier is soo much easier and makes the grow tent mythically misty! Clip fan on and imo keeps humid/heat closer to plants. Found tent at 29 so turned rad down.

I've given them their first water/feed: 750ml each of tap water/deionised water combo to bring ppm down to 120; tap water (left to air in tent for 4 days) was 240  may revert to rainwater. Added to the combined 1.5ltr was 1ml of cal mag and 0.7ml Vitalink Grow A&B (hard water), and a few drops of pH down to 5.7.

Day 12 above soil, 15 since planting. Second feed with water, nutes upped to 1ml of A&B in 1.5ltr split evenly again with cal mag. Tried rainwater (why not?) as it had lower ppm of 200 pre, 700 post nutes. pH of 5.9.

Slightly nervous they're still small, and one looked a wee bit yellow... But gonna see how they get on after this feed and a few other changes...

Changes being my new AC infinity! It's fricking great. Much quieter, lighter and able to turn down. Thanks for advice @St. Tom
Got it on setting 1 to just take some of the humid air out. When I went to fit it I realised the noise I'd heard in the night had been the sound of duct full of condensate pulling itself apart! About 250ml of water had collected in bend, as I hadn't had my old fan on. Now duct on and connected to shower duct to outside.

Also, what a difference a bungee makes! I checked dB noise of old fan. 35 existing background, old fan on bungees in insulated box was 43db. Placed box on joist and increased to 48-50 with/without insulated box. Will measure new fan noise too, that's back on bungees but fuck the box.

I've put humidifier on a timer and rh down to 45-50%, and temp is still around 24C.

Wish em luck! :yay:

she does look a little sickly or a little pale i don't grow in soil but i can tag some folks who know a fair bit about it @hope2grow @Arthur as I'm a coco grower and great job on your upgrades

Thanks Tom. This is a coco grow (canna coco coir), retrospectively I wish I'd rinsed it and learnt a lot already of changes for next time. Lights at 50% and about 30" away. I've swapped their positions in tent and think some of environmental changes may have made her a bit sick. She looked a wee bit worse a couple of days ago, that I thought may have been high humidity.. Hence I'm hoping she's recovering.

Editing to say different phone cameras, so different color capture! And you can see weird green mould that had started as my humidity had been too high
