New Grower Day 8 and looking GREAT!

The pipe cleaners should be fine - I use a fairly thin string to LST my plants, and usually get them tied pretty tight. Worst I've seen so far is some light denting on the topside of the branch from the downward pressure. I'd think that something as soft and malleable as a pipe cleaner wouldn't do much harm at all.

Also, if you're at all worried about the sturdiness of your plants, add in a little silica to your feedings. It'll help build up the plant's tissues and make it stronger, and make it less tasty for any pests that might happen to find their way into your grow space. A little goes a long way.

ive just started using the growth technology silica. is it supposed to be that much of a nightmare on the ph? only using 0.5ml/L but jumps up to 9.5. my cheapo ph pen doesnt like it iether lol

everythin lookin sweet so far man. i spotted "weekly defol" somewhere there.careful what your doing with defol during veg mate as it can stunt the growth. im not, i just hack away regardless but only cos i grow a/u and they can take it but i have ruined 2 big buds from chopping bits off so its not for everyone. your definately onto a winner though man keep it up : )

I dunno about that particular brand of silica - I use Armor Si from GH at .5ml/gal but it does jack with PH. Strong base, I believe. Once I finish mixing my regimen it's easy enough to adjust it, but I only mix a gallon at a time so I can see how it'd be different if you were running DWC or something.

I use AN ryno skin and it will make my plants very strong.. but i dont take much..

Yeah, no joke. I just looked at the Liquid Silicon label, and it says to use up to TEN ml per 10 liters depending on your water type. That seems crazy to me, as 10 liters is like 2.5ish gallons, which would only require about 1.5ml of Armor Si. With that kind of dosage, I can definitely see why it'd cause the PH to skyrocket.
