i got a question... what does flushing your plant mean? I'm a newbie

Basically... it's giving only water without any nutrients towards the end of the life cycle of your plant. It's overall color will diminish and be much lighter a bit quicker than it would normally. The idea is that it will "flush" some of the excess nutes in the soil and roots area. It's believed this improves the overall quality of the finished buds you harvest soon after. Especially for smoothness.

Though there is a lot of debate over whether or not this process is effective at all, though most growers seem to swear by it. I don't think there is really a wrong answer.

It's purely up to you what you decide to do, most tend to do some flushing leading up to harvest. Here's a great thread @Muddy has in these forums... Flushing v Flushing

There is also a less frequently used flush, I want to say more with hydroponic like folks and photoperiod strains where veg can be stretch out, where folks will do something like run a ton-o-water (filtered or otherwise plain) to flush all the built up nutrient deposits and/or salts from the medium and correct PH issues. Was even some discussions somewhere sometime with a couple dudes trying to campaign to get folks to use a different term for one or the other to cut down on confusion. Usually people mean the last two week flush to (according to the myth) "smooth out the smoke". :smoking:
