They definitely are crap quality compared to lab grade. But they put out decent pictures. At least my 5mp does.

The biggest problem I find with the macro clip on lenses is holding them steady enough to get any kind of useful picture. Thankfully, the newer iPhone's camera is quick enough to compensate some with my slightly shaky hands. But point is, if you have shaky hands, then something like a mic boom or goose neck holder or something and a compatible scope may be worth considering, in my opinion.
