closed cell foam is the way to go. Pricey, but it works forever, and has many advantages. I couldn't afford the stuff, it was way more than double the cost of fiber and foam boards. I had to settle for foaming the joints, sills, and corners.

It doesn't make alot of sense to keep people at work until the worst part of the storm, then send them home.. I bet %80 of the people that work here drive at least 45 minutes to get here.. So.. why not wait till the state police advise no travel and unleash the masses to the highways
I hear you man, when I went to bed last night every school was closed except ours finally got a call at 5am that they closed our schools. Nothing like waiting till the last minute.
Sweat equity paid for the more pricey upgrades. Bought at auction and spent almost three years doing work before it was ready to move in. Still isn't as updated as I'd like in places, but it's livable, warm, and dry.

I couldn't wait to move when I got mine, I had already stayed at moms for three weeks. YIKES! And it was the nastiest overgrown, rodent infested farmhouse you ever saw. The basement flooded every rain, and I tore out every bit of utilities from the home while living in it, or in a tent at times, for a year.
