Damn sauger and saugeye are 2 species on my bucket list!!
I can point you to a few good Saugeye fisheries around here. Get a few smithwick p-10s in clown and blue chrome colors for cold weather, Chartreuse 1/4 jig heads with minnows or baby shad for spring and fall, And Chartreuse jig heads with nightcrawlers or nitroworms for summer months...
The river I catch them from originates at a stocked Lake north of here, that turns to the river...That feeds another (accidentally) stocked lake...that feeds my fishing holes.
I catch them by accident in summer months when I get too stoned to do more than chuck a worm in the water, Or I'm using chartreuse jigs near where the river bottom goes from rocky to sandy...
