some the best hash in the world comes from Morocco where they cut it where it stands and allow it to SUN dry. i myself have left buds in the open out in the lite and compared them to the buds i had in the dark...there was no difference. not arguing just bringing up a fact.

I vacuum pack for long term storage and use those squat mason jelly jars for my ready stash. They stack 2 high very nicely in my desk drawer.

Muddy--if you return to this thread or others. What system do you use for vacuum sealing/storage and how long will it keep under proper temp and care. Thanks.

We started out with a Food Saver from WalMart but burned through it in less than a year. We also freeze veggies we grow in our garden or get at the farmers market, so use it a lot. We ended up buying one of these: http://www.pleasanthillgrain.com/vac_pro_150_ary_vacmaster_vacuum_sealer_food_sealing_system.aspx. It was about $300 but well worth it for the amount we use it.

Three years seems to be about the max on storage. I have some that I opened recently that was stored for 4 years and I did notice a decrease in potency. But I don't have a great place to store. I keep them in my garage but it gets too hot in there in the summer. Need to build that root cellar I've been thinking about for awhile now.

Muddy, were you are, you probably should have a "fraidy hole" anyway. They make for great storage when not needed for tornadoes.

You're 100% correct. If/when I do built one it will double as a storm shelter and maybe even a grow room. :D

ive always used any tin, metal prefferably such as biscuit, keep it dry and dark, let it breathe with some holesto prevent rot/mould, shake/turn every day ot two, it will get better and better to around 6 months, after this no matter what you do it will start to deteriorate as the canniboids and certain chemicals in the weed start to break down, prime bud is cured for 5 months in a metal tin, amazing taste, crystal and will turn to dust as you touch it!

I drop a little digital hydrometer in quart mason jars and burp them until I get to 65%. I seal them in at that and leave em in the closet for eight weeks. After that I drop it down to 60% for long term storage. I've heard tell peak cure/potency is at eight weeks and after that it's all downhill as the canabinoids degrade.
