Ok guys i cant help myself, I am a ruthless leave chopper. Any leave that begins to yellow are gonner's. Even if its just the half of the leave closet to the tip, ill cut the leave in half. I assume it no long has any nutritional value so why not git rid of it asap to allow more light penetration.

Am I doing any damage here?

the reason they are going yellow though is that the plant is feeding off of them drawing out the nutrients so youre probably just stressing and slowing down its growth.
tuck fan leaves behind something greener if youre worries about that before cutting imo.

that half the leaf closest to the tip, nute burn? or just you mean yellowing faster there

I, too, take yellows off my plants... but when they occur in mid life....I feel I need to add a lil more N to their diet... yellow "bud" leaves in finish stage are a sign of maturity....

With the exception of some of the lower leaves that may be well shaded, there shouldn't be any yellowing of the leaves until the last 2-3 weeks of the plants life. If you're getting them sooner, then there is either a pH or nutrient issue. As long as they still have green in them, the plant can utilize them, so I'd recommend leaving them until they are completely dead.
