Have a friend who is outdoor grower offer me some of his soil that is 1:3 mix of three year old composted horse manure and organic garden soil...is this good? Ok? He grows successfully with it and his finished product smells and tastes wonderful. Any input will be appreciated as I am new to indoor growing! Thank you!

If someone is using it successfully, then it shouldn't be too hot. I would make a little pocket of seed soil just in case about the size of an 8oz glass. Stick my baby in it then let roots go into your friends soil.

Top two inches of container will be just natural organic potting soil with worm castings already included in it... I shouldn't have to add nutrients to it, just water and grow...? Or should I add bloom nutes when it starts flowering?

Might need some bloom and calmag if under led lights. Have it ready and let the plant tell you.

The problem i see with using outdoor soil on an indoor application is the potential risk of bringing in unwanted pest insects.

Back to horse manure though....yes i have no doubt that mix will work well!! Horse manure is an exceptional fertilizer for weed, though i find it lacks a bit in flower production because of its nitrogen content, it can veg out plants like crazy!! I use it every year to grow the beasts outdoors.

rollin along is right...have PK boosters and cal mag ready if you choose to use it indoors.
