How does it work with care giving in Colorado? Say I'm from out of state wanting to move in state. What's the process to get going with things? Apply for a medical card first? Are you recommended patients on a list or do you find them yourself in your area? Is there criteria to be met for care giving?

Appreciate any help or points in the right direction! Been looking at the government sites for Colorado and just thought I'd ask to see if anyone had any firsthand experience with it.

Buy a dispensary. There is no caregiving in Colorado unless a person is fully depended on you and you can prove you take care of them

So does it just more boil down to the different licensing needs then? I've seen there are different licenses depending on what you're trying to do and plant count. So pretty much all medical needs go through dispensaries then?

Edit: confused my old state laws

@Son of Hobbes are you think about moving to the CO???? Well there IS the ability to be a caregiver, and the regs to do it are not that difficult or restrictive, just work withing the regs that are set forth..caregivers must have the "red card" licence numbers registered with dept of revenue...laws are always changing and most recently the battle has been to limit the amount a cargiver can grow, this is/was due to "on the edge" cargivers growing thousands of plants for patients who had questionable "plant counts"...cargivers who are legit can solicit caregiver rights to build clientel, and because there are guidelines that are clearly written,a person can work within them..Registering as a caregiver would be the first step as your facility( even if its your house) will be inspected.,i will include links if you need them,,but as i stated, the laws are always changing..this is something i looked into but this is not firsthand "im doing it" type experience http://www.coloradomedicalmarijuana.com/medical-marijuana-caregivers.htm

Private caregivers do not pay taxes like a dispensary would, they also have (or had)the ability to set their own prices, this was something that had the gov re-think and rewrite the regs as some "caregivers"( used very loosly) were growing thousands of plants and being taxed at different rates than legitimate dispensaries...when i/we initially looked in to starting up a business,i researched and looked at the legit and leagl way to get going, health and money issues( see bankruptcy due to medical costs) prevented me from a lot of options..part of registering to get a red card will require background checks and a requirements that you cannot register weapons,so its an either or situation..the regs to include some wording about being a resident for a certain time, and when people come from out of state without knowing this, they set up shop anyway, usually get busted and put us all in a bad "spotlight",unfortunate...

@budelee I'm still new to Co. When i moved here last year I was under the impression you could not be a care giver unless your responsible for the individual or open a dispensary, was laws different before?
