Anyone clear on the effects of cold nights (7-10 celcius)..((Do I have to specify autos around here??)) during the first 2wks of growth?

If you were restricted to cold frames and no electricity, would you opt for a later harvest (ensuring a greater loss to botrytis) or the effects of a cold start?

Already planning to stagger and find out, but would appreciate your input.
Thanks!

It will largely be strain dependent… some will do better than others…but they’re all going to be susceptible to stunting, and damping off.

Like was said above, if you can start them inside for the first few weeks you would greatly increase your chances.

That being said, there used to be a grower in northern Alaska on site, off grid, that grew some excellent plants outdoors. So it’s possible. I would start more than I need in this situation, and plan for not all to make it.

Thanks you guys. It will be interesting to see how different varieties perform at either end.
Gonna find room on the windowsill for first planting soon, now that I've heard enough times that they can be transplanted. Most will go out in June I think..
Anyone else have any input? I'm used to botrytis, even in August with these things so hopefully the benefit of a healthy veg and cold night finishes will balance out the loss

Auto can be transplanted but timing is crucial IMO can’t let the roots start growing around the cup/pot otherwise she’ll get root bound and possibly head into flower early

I didn't look/don't have a great eye to judge their results, but buildasoil has an "auto transplant" video and I was surprised how rooted they were..

Who do I tag to recommend an outdoor forum? Or whose forum has the most outdoor growers is another question? I think this is an important area of crowd info for the homegrower.. especially since I think the industry has developed to a point that breeders/cultivators are too busy to share info..not to mention the lack of incentive

Thanks I guess I'm thinking of outdoor specific info..especially new and novel things that must be being discovered on the daily.. I might also be, for good reason, being distrustful of big ag.. I want to read the genetic testing results as they come out dude!..had I the brain/additional info to decipher it.. this goes for photos as well.. I stand by citizen science being underutilized.. The gene pool and how diverse our growing conditions/experiences are, is soo big....tangent is heading toward the need for regional info gathered and compared..

IMO Jeremy is not an Auto grower personally haven’t seen him grow any great autos that’s just my opinion we’ve talked about it here for awhile he needs to start a account here so we can teach him how to grow autos
