Lighting Cobshop.net info, questions and answers

Unfortunately there is nothing I can get to decrease the intensity. Pretty much any addition will increase the intensity over a smaller area. It’s down to the wattage. What size is your space again?

Thank you for your time.

My room is framed out under a garage roof. It is 4 feet tall in the middle, and 3.5 feet on the sides. The floor area is 3.5 X 3.5 feet. I grow 9 plants at a time in 3 gallon pots. I currently have a 600W HPS, and supplement with two cheap/crappy 300W LCD panels during flower. The carbon filter takes up quite a bit of space in the back right top of the room.

I Keep the HPS less than a foot from the plants during flower. I FIM the plants to keep them lower and bushier. I do some low stress training to pull down any tall buds. I don't want to do SOG as I usually grow many varieties and I don't know how I would pull plants that ripen early or late.

I tried adding my one 55W autocob to the setup, but I cannot get it high enough---saw bleaching in the leaves. In my original question, I was wondering if a piece of light diffuser, like http://www.eplastics.com/Plastic/lighting-diffusers/OA-PRIS2X4?gclid=Cj0KCQiAgs7RBRDoARIsANOo-HiCwvrdnlikXkkCkVAixCXzOsy7iSwek_E5leq-J8DYQKWlTJOqBYIaAiQwEALw_wcB , would help spread out the light and lower the intensity.

Due to heat issues in the summer, I am curious to see if there is a autocob solution for my small grow room at a reasonable price ($500?).

Is the cob in addition to the rest of the lights? I’d consider the lower wattage Autocobs or almost complete cobs and power them softer. Because the Autocob is frameless there is no way to add a dimmer but lower wattage is achievable. I use a 50v cob and a 1.05a driver, the alternative would be a 36v cob and a 1.05a driver. With the almost complete cobs you can power them as soft as you want. Hope this helps.

I hope to replace HPS and LED with cobs. How many almost complete cobs would your recommend to fully cover this area, and what driver?

I’d probably go with 6 cobs at 35 watts with a dimmable driver. 210 watts in total and you should do very good. This would be 25% the heat and power of your current setup too.

Can you post or message me with the price for this set up, and one with 8 cobs at 35W,

Quick question..can you plug your cobs in a dimmer control?

Dimmers are actually very complicated and I won’t get into that part. Installing a dimmer inline of the 110v outlet will more or less decrease the power going to the driver and not the cobs. It will most likely flash or flicker. There would need to be a dimmer installed between the driver and cob for it to work.
