Yes this is the wording:
"Plants are to be grown primarily under COB lighting (all manor of COBs allowed) exceptions are for germination under other less powerful lamps and the addition of UVA/UVB or other special purpose lights for crop quality."
It is my personal experience that COBs are too strong for germination and the first few days for a seedling so I use some "burple LEDs" to start and I use 730 nm LEDs to initiate or strengthen stretch and flowering. After that UVA/UVB is utilized the last 3 weeks of the grow to enhance THC/CBD production. COBs alone cannot maximize the plants potential but they provide the greatest amount of the light during the grow.
I don't mean to sound snarky, but what you are saying is that this is no longer a head to head cob grow like the preliminary legs, I'm confused,:dizzy:I thought the whole idea was to see who could produce the best plant using only COBs. No problem here, I have supplemental lighting I can add too.

@Feenix my rules proposal has not been accepted. You need to follow the posted rules for the contest. Feenix the definition of a COB (chip on board) encompasses many styles of lights so I don't understand your head to head comment. Technically these and many many more are all COBs:

Basically it is any board with multiple leds attached to it. In my proposal the majority of light is to come from these types of sources. Now I will not grow and waste potential by not using UVA/UVB in the last weeks of flower and neither should you. IMHO a contest should not eliminate light phases that make a better product. Same goes for germination. I don't turn the cobs on for the first week they are just too strong.

My friend, I will play by whatever the rules are. I just want to know what they are up front. Understanding is everything. :toke:

Coming up to day 4 for MBAP, Trainwreck, Northernlights now on the first three girls. Had Heisenberg x Sour Hound stall out only showing cotyledons and nothing else so germing my last seed now to replace her.
