Coast of Maine soils and composts

Do you think I should add any mineral into that stonington? Doesn't seem to have any....

Yeah I think some form would be advisable. Some stuff in my aeration has minerals and micro nutrients like black lava sand and greensand but thee things take a long time to become available and break down in the soil. Azomite is cheapish and really don't need a whole lot, one box from DTE gave me plenty for 150 gallons of soil mix.

For cal mag and sulfur and other sources of micronutrients I would look at stuff like epsom salts, gypsum and oyster shell flour. Cheap and available.

Oh yeah, neem cake is also great. I'd def add that and kelp to any bagged soil.

Hey Frank,
I am going to start a grow just after Christmas using the Stonington Blend and following their recommendation to add bone meal after 30 days of growth. I have tried blending my own using Roots Organics and supplementing with KIS nutrient pack but something didn’t go right and I am in the middle of my worst grow since I started this great hobby! I know this thread is very old but I was hoping you had given the Stonington Blend a go and could offer an opinion as too it’s worth. Thanks Brudder

Oh yea, I gave it a few go 'rounds....tried it a few different ways, and was never happy with the outcome....to hot for seedlings, and would crap out mid way through flower... I use pro mix hp and green leaf nutes now. I've given up on a soil and water only grow, and am sticking with what works at this point. If you do give it a go, tag me into your journal, I'd like to follow along. Good luck, my friend.

Thanks for the info! I’ll tag you when I get started.
