Hey all.
I put this up in my journal, but not getting input. I figured I'd go topic specific and put it here. Sorry if its redundant.

I've got two Purple Mazars nearing chop (day 66). Growers notes say 70-75 days. They've been getting plain water with molasses for about two weeks, 2 waterings total. I'd been using the ff trio. They're not thirsty at all these days. Yellow is taking over.

The reason I'm asking is I cant find a single amber trich on either plant. Its all cloudy and has been for at least a week. Also the bud leaves are getting a touch of yellow to them I'm worried what'll happen if I wait too long for them to amber up, that it will affect quality.

I should also add I have seeds brewing on one branch. The pods aren't splitting open as of yet. I broke open a seed pod and it was brown, but looks like it could use a little more time, but that's only one plant of two.

I guess the question is does the ambering happen quickly at the very end?

Enough talk, here's some pics. I'd appreciate any input.

I think its border line either way from the 1st pic can tell on the rest but 90% pistols look brown so id chop
you probs cut feed a touch early

Thanks agito. I had low soil ph issues right when my last feeding would have happened, I played it safe with water and a touch of lime. If you think its borderline is there any harm in waiting a couple more days?

Shouldn't be any harm waiting a few days. That's nice & chunky!

While some autos will show amber trics, it seems to be the exception rather than the rule. I like to wait till all the primary and secondary fan leaves have yellowed and died and the bud leaves are turning yellow. Judging from your pictures, I'd say another week. Chop everything except the seeded branches. Leave those another week or two until everything on the branches has yellowed and the pods are splitting open.

Alright all yellow. I hadnt thought to leave the seed branch go like that. I was at a loss on that one. Ill say thanks now but the real appreciation will come in a few weeks when I smoke some awesome weed. I had to talk myself off the ledge last night because I'm out and really really don't want to pay for mj again. I did snag enough popcorn buds to see me through.

Thanks again everyone!!!

Tough call - I'd chop one now and the other in 3-5 days (maybe a week); but thats just me. Gives you a little experimentation on early harvest and lets you see if the trichs amber up or not. If they do, you can now compare the effects and choose how to harvest your next grow.

Test, test, test! Then share your results here!

Hi Savoy-
I have a robust Purple (less) Mazar. 2.25 ft. I'm using handy dandy jewelers loupe (Amazon.com, rock/mineral shop...$10)....look at the trichomes...if still clear, wait until they are milky....that's about a 10 day window. Don't rely solely on hairs turning colors. Too early, more UP(heady!)...too late... more couch lock. I like combo! Some phenos (like yours/mine) don't display the violet tinge. Grew one last winter- Mmmmm-tastey!!!

Mine is pretty purpless as well, although as it gets near the end the bud leaves are getting purple touches, the buds too are getting purple highlights.
