I had soaked the coco before I turn the air domes and rez on. My thinking is that the coco makes the wicking happen.
Well, last night I dug out the rapid rooters and I think I had it all wrong. The rooters were soaking wet and no additional root growth, so I’m thinking now that the nutrients wicked up fine, but that they dampened off from too much moisture?

I have almost a full bag, I could never get them right. Feel like an idiot. I use the peat pellets now and my germ percentage is throuh the roof. Must just be that I could never get the feel of the correct amount if moisture in the RRs. I see perfect germ from many in the RRs but I had the same issue, they seemed to wick up and damp off

I have had mixed results from root riots. Sometimes my little ones flourish, and sometimes they damp off. I am torn whether to keep using them in future grows, or just germinate in my paper towel and drop right into the medium.

I have personally made that mistake with rapid rooters and rock wool starter cubes; they both wick water too well and will drown your seedlings. Since I started hefting the rock wool and only watering when needed I have not lost a single seed to damping off.

I do not know

Well I guess that I have been fortunate with mine. I do not add any additional water to them. They have only the moisture that they came with out of the bag. I put them in he coco direct in the auto pots. I do put 1.5 liters of water in each pot first. Then I plug the Root Riot into the coco. So far only one has not popped. Again it is all about what works for you BEST.

:smoking:I think they are probably a fantastic product. I’m sure my issue was that I could not leave them well enough alone. I’ve tried them for vegetable seeds and no issues. Why is it us new growers try so hard to over complicate growing canna ?
I need to remind myself everyday to “leave them alone”
