aloha boyz (n girlz why not :P) how r u today?!
so! my problem is this. i have a growroom running a 600w HPS sylvania lamp.
and i did what ever was possible for this room to make a good ventilation for the lamp with a cooltube etc. but i still have some heat in there! the temp now is 31c (88f) when my room temp is about 18c (64f).. imagine at summer as we have very warm summers here!!

SO! im thinking of ether go to 300w cfl (i know the light wont be the same as a HPS light, but the heat generation of this lamp is nothing!)
or i was thinking too, what if i try a 300w-400w HPS lamp, would i see any difference from the 600w running now????
and what about MH lamps as they can run at HPS ballast. anyone has any of them?

You can buy conversion bulbs that will allow you to run a MH bulb in an HPS fixture or a HPS in a MH fixture. But MH are not good for flowering. They have a broader blue spectrum that is best for flowering. LEDs are another option. More money up front but cheaper in the long run due to lower electric cost and no need to replace HPS bulbs every 15,000 hours or so.

have you thought about going with fluorescent bulbs, like T5's??

they would drop the temp. in your room.they don't get as hot as the HPS or MH lights.

well guys thanks for the responds! i changed with a powerplant mh 400w WITH the same HPS ballast (600w!) and the temps from 32c drops to 27-28c... not to much but its something! when ill have money im thinking of a 2 x cfl 300w (1 yellow,1blue)working together.
the think is that i did some research in net and with MH lamps in flowering the buds its not so big but they get very sticky! and the plant doesnt goes to the sky. it grows more bushy than christmas tree style! as speaking of christmas, merry christmas to all!! :P
