Indoor CDLC and Sour Stomper in Earth Boxes July 1 2022

One more quick update, as the girls continue to grow unabated. Dealing with some high RH in the area this week, so VPD isn't ideal for this stage, but I may just turn on the dehumidified in the lung room a few times today to get VPD back in the positive digits again.

Overall, no signs of deficiencies or trouble yet, a couple weeks into the stretch for the Stomper. Lots of indicators of healthy soil life, including fungus gnats unfortunately, but the plants still look super strong and riotous and I love seeing the mycelium and other side products of healthy fungal growth in the root zone. The Stomper is drying out her res every 3 days now, so I'm up to watering in on Sundays and Thursdays.

Thanks for reading along. More to come! I plan to hit at least one, maybe two, branches with feminized and regular autoflower pollen as well. Most likely, I'll end up with Sour Stomper x Spotless Mind F1 fem seeds and CDLC x Zamadelica Express F1 reg seeds as well as some killer flower in about 6 weeks.

Here’s a check in from Day 67.
This has been the easiest grow I’ve done to date. I’ve still got probably 2-3 weeks on the CDLC but the Sour Stomper is already showing signs of finishing out. Hoping to get another week out of her at least.
Overall, I’m super happy with this grow. Managing RH and VPD has been an issue, with high RH all summer and my limited ability yo dehumidify the lung room the tent is in. With a better VPD I think I could’ve gotten a couple more ounces between the 4 plants. But that and a minor fungus gnat issue are the only negatives of this grow. I’ve been watering to runoff every 3 days at this point, super solid mycelium evidence on top of the soil.
I’ll check back in a couple more times with updates, but I’m ready to declare this little experiment a success. I only had to water in Recharge once a few days ago, and that probably wasn’t necessary. No other complaints this run! If you are on the fence with this method, I strongly suggest trying it out. Especially if low RH is more prevalent in your area.

One more update, from Day 80.

Aside from fungus gnats, no issues whatsoever with this grow. I will be getting some nematoads to go after these gnats while I turn over the boxes. Otherwise, no issues with this grow at all other than having trouble managing VPD.

The Sour Stompers are coming down today, with the CDLC coming down in a week or so. Really nice couple of phenos from the SS - one that looks just like the strain pics on the site and another that’s completely fuzzed over with trichs.

I will definitely not hesitate to run autos again in earthboxes. This was somehow even easier than MegaCrop in autopots, in that I didn’t have to mix nutes and ph the solution before adding it. Just run 5 gallons of water, wait a day, then water in a couple gallons each. It couldn’t be any easier.

I realized a few days ago that I never posted a pic of my setup. This is all the equipment I used for the duration of the grow. The only tradeoffs/potential drawbacks of using a SIP like this relative to fabric autopots are the fungus gnats (I just now ordered nematodes, which I should have done 2.5 months ago), and having to be more creative training the plants with less nearby surfaces to tie down to.

With the plants now drying and curing, I have to amend and prep the SIP, I assume. I'm starting with the aforementioned nematodes, and then planning to add a few inches of a mix of soil, BAS Amend mix, and worm castings to the top, with a few less "hot" areas for the new seeds to sprout. If anyone has any pro-tips or adjustments to this most basic of plans, I'm all ears!

Hopefully someone comes across this thread in the future and saves a lot of time and money trying to learn to grow without a ton of variables, since it can really be this easy. Seems like this should be the go to method for mom and pop medical patients.
