Dutch Passion CBD Kush & ComPassion

Those are very nice and sharp pics! What camera, may I ask?

just got back from Spannabis, and I have had some great feedback at the show from medical users of CBD. One grower explained that THC was good for his medical issues (specifically he has MS). But the same grower explained that for him, the addition of CBD to his pot puts it into a 'different league'. Its fascinating stuff

Thank you very much sir. I'm also gonna be starting a grow using Autopots soon, really looking forward to it. Have you used them before??
I agree, that little Kush is awesome. Still haven't decided whether to top her yet or not.... What do you think??

Hi Cap

Sorry for the late reply. I use Autopots for the past year and I'm only really getting a handle on them now. Because I changed so many things up at the time. New RO water, using coco for the first time, Autopots for the first time. This run with the Autopots I'm only going to use very clean hydro nutes designed for dripper systems (AN Sensi Grow A&B + Calmag + Silicon + Overdrive and Big Bud, etc) in the reservoir tank. I'll top feed anything organic or thick or biological based (Rhizotonic, Voodoo Juice, Carboload, etc) as I find that stuff clogs up the dripper lines that are used to feed the aquavalves. Also I'll never let the reservoir go under a third empty as when it gets empty if there is any sediment in the bottom of the tank that's when it gets pushed down into the feed line. Also regular tank cleanings and opening of the feed line valve to clear that and just as importantly I'll be using House and Garden - Drip Clean this time. Also another tip, use an inch of washed ph'd balanced clay pebbles in the bottom of the pot and 50/50 perlite coco inside the pot and another inch of clay pebbles on the top. Or if you want you could use 50/50 Plagron Lightmix and Perlite if you wanted to remain using soil. I'll also give them a couple of shots of Gnat-Off during their life time as I found the constant wet/moist medium makes a great breeding ground for those little buggers. Plus I'll be giving them proactive sprays with SB-Plant Invigorator, until they are at least 2 weeks into flowering which combats aphids and things like that.

They do grow very fast in the Autopots especially during vegetation. Plus the AutoPots are handy if you need to go away for a week you can pretty much get away with it. Fill the nutrient tank right up and they pretty much take care of themselves if you have too. The main issue I've found is making sure those aquavalves don't clog. It's their one weakness in my opinion. If you only have one or two autopots it's not so bad but when you have a dozen or two all together it can be hard to get in and check them. So I tend to only notice once a plant is wilting which generally means I've lost a few grams from harvest weight by that stage. But I'm hoping the new strategy, of Drip Clean and very clean hydro nutes only in the res will sort that out.

As for topping the CDB Kush, I dunno man :) I would say FIM her maybe? :) I tend to top a plant only if it's getting much taller than another one as I want an even canopy, other wise if I want it to bush out a bit i'll FIM her. Anyway Cap, I'm liking this grow. Nice and simple, clean and healthy plants. I think the CBD strains are onto a real winner and I really look forward to smoking my first one in three months time and see what it feels like. I believe the mellow, theraputic buzz is going to be right up my alley. Will try and stop by more often and defo can't wait for your smoke report :)

Howdy folks, I missed my update yesterday so I'd better get it in now before I dive back into my jar of AWW again ;)

Both plants will be transplanted into 10 litre air-pots later this evening and given a couple of weeks to settle before I move them onto flower. The ComPassion has shown a real dislike to nutrients, she showed a nasty burn on a couple of lower fan leaves so I'm just feeding her plain water now and she's looking much happier. She's a tall girl though so I think I'll top her once she's been transplanted and I'll turn her into a little bush. There're lots of nice side branches rising up on her so it should work out quite well.
The CBD Kush needs no help turning into a bush, she's doing that all on her own, and just the same as the Passion, she has loads of nice side branches just waiting to burst up from beneath those huge Indica fan leaves. She's also being fed plain water but for no reason other than I haven't had the time these past few days to make up a mix. She also won't need any for a while as the soil she'll be transplanted into will have a healthy dose of bat guano mixed in.

And I think that's about it folks. Once they've both settle in their new homes I'll be back with more :)

CBD Kush - Day 33

She smells very Kushy already. Lovely tones of hash, pine, musk, patchouli and lemon rind.

ComPassion - Day 27

The only way to describe the aroma from this girl is that white wood and sawdust smell you get when you first walk into a DIY store. Very interesting. Not something I've come across in a pot plant before.

That Kush is a beauty mate.

Right then folks, this is the end of part one for this grow. I now have a good idea of how these two want to grow so I think I'm ready to get the next ones going.
As I said at the beginning, I just wanted to see the general shape of these to give me a good idea of what to expect and now I have that figured I'm gonna start topping and training these girls ready for flower so this will probably be the last time you'll see them in their natural state.

The CBD Kush is a lovely short squat little Indica chick, where as the ComPassion looks very much like the old Nepalese landraces. I imagine this would be a great plant to get going outdoors.

The ComPassion still holds that sawdust and pine smell but now has a new lemon tinge coming through, and the CBD Kush smells like blackcurrants. Syrupy blackcurrants, exactly the same smell as Ribena. I'll be so happy if the Kush keeps this scent, even more so if it tastes like blackcurrants :)

I have a photo update on the CBD Kush for you all. I'll do a separate one for the ComPassion soon, I've just taken a load of cuttings from her so she's not very photo friendly atm ... Here's a little sneak peak though...

Massively sativa :)

Right, back to the Kush :)

A couple of days ago I stripped down all the fan leaves from the centre portion of the plant to allow that cluster of side branches to get some decent lighting as the leaves covering them were huge....

016.jpg

Already things have started to take off so last night, I flipped the switch and put her into flower.
I also topped her about a week ago just to control the height so I can maintain her a little better and doing so has create four lovely new tops.

The sickly sweet, blackcurrant aroma pouring off her is insanely strong. I don't mean pungent like 'Carbon Filters at the ready', no, not that, it's actually a very low smelling plant so far but pick off a leaf or two and the blackcurrant hits you hard. I've said it before but it smells exactly the same a Ribena cordial. It really is beautiful :)

Since transplanting her into the 10 litre I've had no need to feed her anything other than water as I added a fair amount of bat guano and worm castings but I think come feeding time tomorrow I'll have probably started her on the hard stuff :)

And I think that's about it folks, I'll leave you with the photo's and I'll be back with more from the ComPassion soon.

Take care

Lovely !!

Thank you sir ;)

Right then, you'll have to forgive me for the 'just got out of bed look' of the ComPassion atm. As I said before I have topped her, and also pinched out the tip of every branch. For a couple of reasons really, the main one being that she was just plain scaring the hell outta me, I wasn't sure how big she was gonna get so I had to put a stop to her stretching out any further. And secondly (more of an after effect of the first really) is now every single one of the lateral branches is creating around 6 new tops all reaching up for the light. This is happening on around 8 or so branches which will add up to a hell of a lot of potential flower points when she reaches that point. Another couple of weeks and she'll look like a giant beach ball.

She's massively nutrient sensitive. I still haven't fed her anything other than the Bat guano and worm casting which I pre-mixed into the soil and even that has caused a few burn marks on her fan leaves.
She's mellowed out now but I'm still very cautious about adding nutes to her water, guess I'll have to give it a try soon though.

Again, I do apologise for showing her in this messy state, I would have much rather kept her in the dark for another week and brought her out looking all prim and proper but it's best I'm honest and show you everything that's going on here as it happens.
She definitely took me by surprise though so if anyone has any tips for me on how to handle such a heavily sativa chick on my next round I'd love to hear your thoughts. Big Sativa's like this are a new dish for me so I may need a little help planning round 2 :)

CBD Kush - Day 50

And this is just as beautiful as it has been since day 1. A really stunning plant in every department and that lovely blackcurrant aroma has now picked up a very sweet, red cherry twist. Just awesome :)

I'm not sure if you will pick up a slight blue tinge to the outer edges of the leaves here. Well if you can, that's actually there. It's very cool. I can often pick up about 3 different colours in each leaf, 2 greens and the blue edges. I'll see if I can take a picture of one tomorrow :)
