Hey guys so im looking around for a vent. System for the smell, i have been looking at many sytem and the system has to be quiet, i wanted to get a 6inch filter fan but i think a 4inch would do, my tent is 2.6 x 2.6 x 5.2 ( 80 x 80x 150cm) i would noy be upgrading to a bigger space anytime soon, what do u guys recommend please and what brands? I read gpod stuff about Ventech, Amazon product ASIN

From the way it was explained to me, double your cubic feet, and that's the cfl or clf or whatever to look for.

Quiet is a relative term. If you want to stand one foot from the tent, and hear absolutely nothing, in a dead quiet room, you are out of luck.
If you are OK with a slight air rushing sound, and a slight hum, that is doable.
The standard filter-fan-flex ducting will work well, if you run the fan on a speed controller, and throttle it down. I would also wrap the fan in fiberglass insulation to help dampen the noise.
A 4" fan should be more than enough for that size tent, assuming you don't need to run more than a few feet of ducting. Flex duct is a terrible flow impediment. Keep the run as straight as possible, and pull it taught to make it as smooth walled as possible.
A better method, in my experience is to think outside the box a little.
Larger carbon filter. Think Can66 size. Build a plenum box out of wood, or very strong cardboard. Fan goes on filter in box, pulling through filter, and blowing out of the box through a short length of duct. Stinky air is drawn through a duct from the tent, and into to side of the box.
This gets all of the crap out of the top of your tent, and lets you run a real carbon filter. You can put the plenum box anywhere nearby that you have space for it. With a 2x2 tent and a Can66, you will smell nothing. Nadda.
If you choose to go this route, I would suggest a 6" fan and speed controller.
For reference, I am running a Can33, a 4" tjerlund fan, and wayyyy too much ducting right now. Even badly restricted by the long duct run, I can slightly overdraw the filter, and get a whiff of the goods.
More carbon is a very good thing. I know it's not cheap, but you will appreciate the advice when you are not 8 weeks in, frying bacon and brewing coffee at 11pm because the little tiny filter from Amazon wasn't up to the task, and your place reeks of weed.
Wish could draw you a picture of the plenum box, but I'm using my phone atm.
Good luck, stay safe.
Regards, Kyle

Thank for the reply! When i said quiet i dodnt mean it as in silent, air vent sound is alright just can be too loud thats all, i checked the can66 and it doesnt com with a flange, budget is a little tight since I will also be paying for international shipping, i do not want the goods to smell, should i just say f'it and go with a 6inch fan+filter combo? I am also trying to get a good grow light mine is a 1000w led but ive been told it won't give enough light (although bright af), might get a Morsen 2000w, so thats another expense +shipping atm

I have the 6 inch Vivosun fan/filter combo in my 4x4 tent. It just has a slight sound but doesn't interfere with the TV sound in the room and I've tried it on all speed settings. I'd say the 18" oscillating fan in my room is louder.

I'm no expert on LED lighting, but the light you have sounds really big for the space in the tent. I can't imagine you would need more, but you may need less!
If money is tight, I would go with the setup Bushmaster has pictured above. That's a tried and true way to go, and if you need more filtration, you can always add another filter like that in a plenum box later.
I have always been SUPER paranoid about smell. When I had a 6x8' 3600w room, I ran a Can75 in the room, ducted to a plenum box with a Can100 and Vortex 747 fan (on a large UPS backup power supply).
I also lived across the street from a narcotics cop, and his doggy ):
Hope that helps put things in perspective...

Well i might be looking at his setup as i need one before they start to flower, this is a big no no over here so it kinda trips me out! And with the led light it isnt as big as u would think, tooo a pic of it, i dont think its a true 1000w though

A 4 inch fan and filter will be just fine for that space. I have been using Vortex fans and Phresh filters for a long time.

Look into cob lighting like the ones available at www.cobshop.net. I have the 3500K ready to hang and they are fantastic. Silent, efficient, especially when compared to mass built led lights (of which I've owned many), low electrical draw, low heat throw, small and easy to move. Cobs are gaining a good and consistent reputation in a short amount of time.

Hard to tell from the pic, but you should be able to Google the name of the light, and look through the specs to see what the actual watts being drawn from the wall are. My Viparspectra "300w" actually uses 134w, I believe.
It does look like your light is very close to the plants, but it might just be the camera angle.

Thats the same one I run in a much bigger space. I am not too worried about smell anymore, but I run it to pressurize the room anyway. It controls room intake air as well as smells. a 4 inch ought to fine in a small area but a 6 inch will likely run quieter and probably use less electricity as long as it's on a speed controller.
