Indoor Cannacheese / Skywalker / Toof Decay / ? - late '22 run

Big fan of the floraflex equipment as it stands. the next grow will be 15 plants in the new 8x4 these guys are currently set up in and I'll probably be switching over to their 3g pots instead of the 5g pots though still undecided. Materials are pretty solid quality and reusable long term.

Yeah, I was wondering how you felt about those top trays. I bought a couple of those last year, but didn't use them yet as they are round and I'm currently using square pots...

It may be gimmicky. I don't know enough about options to know any better, but it seems to be a real even distribution of water guaranteeing complete saturation. I just know after 2.5 years of bending over with a 2.5gallon watering can and pouring up to an 1.5" of standing water in to the old pots.. i needed something new and easier.

They had a 50% off sale on black friday, wish I had got the rest of the gear then but I was still trying to figure out how I was feeling about it. I feel like I could just rig up a DIY system to do similar but at the same time I also don't want to fuss around with that. Just buying, and plugging in and playing is a convenience I think I'm happy with.

I was a bit doubtful about the plastic pots at first, concerned they may get root bound after solely using fabric pots these last few years... but seems they went straight down and quick, so no concern there. If you end up switching to rounds at some point, I'd definitely recommend giving them a go. Be good to have more info on them from more people. Not a lot on the forum or internet in general tbh.

Just a journal update for today. Realized I may have fucked up feeding the veg feed a little longert than needed. Probably should have switched to bloom nutrients when I saw the first pistil fire. I can't think of any other reason for the N tox outside of that, I don't feel like I have been over feeding but Meph is pretty finicky on feed amounts in general I feel. They have gotten mega thirsty, those deep roots are chunkin for real. It's taking closer and closer to 2 full minutes before I get any runoff. Currently at around 90 seconds mayube a touch more here and there for feedings. Will likely be at full 2 minutes by end of week.

  12. 11-25-22 - ^^^ 5.8pH 33 seconds feed
  13. 11-26-22 - ^^^ 5.9pH 33 seconds feed - raised lights to 24" and increased wattage to 75%
  14. 11-27-22 - ^^^ 5.8pH 33 seconds feed - raised lights to 32" as some leaves appear to be showing light stress. Will monitor accordingly.
  15. 11-27-22 - Put in a large order to multiverse beans today, 12 different strains of Sweet Seeds. Freebies look to include 8x Pound town auto - HSC, 3x atlas gummie bear, 3x atlas froot by the foot, 4x citrus bubble gum (mutant gens), 4x emerald fire OG (HSC), 4x GMO Auto (atlas)
  16. 11-28-22 - ^^^ 5.6pH 33 seconds feed Raised lights to 36" and dialed lights up to 85%
  17. 11-28-22 - mixed new reservoir. 20gallons 5tsp FLoralfex V1 and v2 each. 715ppm
  18. 11-28-22 - Screwed up and forgot to shut the floraflex flow valve to the off position so created a siphon when I filled my reservoir. Reversed probably 2-3 quarts of untreated water with a pH of 7.4 so after prepping res, immediately flushed/fed again with treated water of 715ppm at 5.8pH. Fun times.
  19. 11-28-22 - ^^^ 5.7pH 715ppm 33 sec feed PM (2nd feed)
  20. 11-29-22 - ^^^ 5.7pH 715ppm 33 sec feed AM
  21. 11-29-22 - ^^^ 5.7pH 715ppm 33 sec feed PM (2nd feed)
  22. 11-30-22 - ^^^ 5.6pH 715ppm 33 sec feed AM
  23. 11-30-22 - power went out for a few hours last night, woke up at 1am when power came back to get lights turned back off and quickly doctor crap before gettin back to bed. Woke up this AM to find a slow drip reverse siphon going on. Not sure why it didnt show before now, but there it was. So drilled a higher hole in the pvc of the res and that has fixed that problem. Talk about dumb. Didn't do my homework as well as I thought I had here but the whole pvc auto irrigation thing is a first and learning curves will exist. Flipside is the Floraflex setup has a valve I could have turned to the off position each time Im done watering and this wouldnt have been an issue, but I'd like it more automated than that. At this point that Floraflex valve is the "oh shit handle" in the car. I appreciate that it's there when I absolutely need it. Plants have a bit of droop going on now, and I'm thinking it may be the 10* temp drop as a result of finally running the exhaust out the window instead of letting it circulate in the room. Room temp dropped from 72* to 60-61. May end up buying a dehumidifier and letting the exhaust empty in to the room to maintain a higher temp but still undecided at present. Will update with pics later.
  24. week 3
  25. 12-01-22 - ^^^ 5.9pH 714ppm 30 sec feed AM
  26. 12-02-22 - ^^^ 5.9pH 714ppm 30 sec feed AM. Backed off twice daily feeds. Between the power outage, light change, learning the floraflex nutrient strength, and upping feed amounts toof decay and cannacheese started developing a mean claw. At the same time, they're both really taking off so I may be pushing them just a touch more than they want, but they can handle it, or theyre pouty also from all the commotion/changes they've endured the last 4-5 days. They're sprouting upwards an onwards however so that's always a good sign, not much neut burn either, just the claw. May be a rough month. We have to go for two hip injections and an MRI in the next week and the following so hopefully that goes better than we've anticipated. Some concrete answers would be ideal so better treatment can be orchestrated. Debating on getting a small speaker for the girls to play music for so they tune out some of my stress lol.
  27. 12-03-22 - ^^^ 5.9pH 714 ppm 45 sec feed AM longer feeds ow as roots seem to have developed enough to not alow run off with 30 secs run. time currently set to 48 seconds to generate 10% runoff.
  28. 12-04-22 - ^^^ 5.8pH 714ppm 45sec feed AM - Toof and Sky really starting to bush out and and canna starting to get that solid cannacheese stretch. Will likely be topping canna in a few days and potentially sky and toof if they decide to start any stretches.. as it stands, they're seemign pretty squat and may just end up doing a balled up bush as in the past. Defol will probably be highly encouraged on those two. SamOG growing slow but surely as is her strain. looking really healthy otherwise. Wildly unlike the neon yellow mutant I had in my first journal a couple years ago.
  29. 12-05-22 - ^^^ 5.6pH 714ppm 55sec feed PM - topped Cannacheese and skywalker. Cannacheese stem smelt like fresh grass and skywalker smelled just like a fresh cut watermelon slice. Wild. Did some LST to both of these guys and did some leaf tucking on the toof decay. Was going to top Toof decay but not sure currently as she is staying really squat and dense. Reminds me of CDLC.
  30. 12-06-22 - ^^^ 5.6pH 714ppm 55sec feed AM - took down the 5x5 and put up the 8x4, plants were without light for about an hour
  31. 12-07-22 - ^^^ 5.7pH 714ppm 75sec feed AM - Mixed new res/feed. Backed down from previous dosing strat. 3.5TSP of each V1 and V2, while skywalker shows no curl at all, cannacheese, toof decay, samOG all have curled down tips indicating potential nitrogen surplus. Will pump feeds to twice daily again as plants look as if they are about to hit preflower stretch soon and will need to switch to bloom nutes as soon as this tank is done.

  36. 12-09-22 (day 24) - ^^^ 5.7pH 550ppm 75sec feed PM - lower nutes and more frequent feeds, really seems to be aiding growth. Roots are blowing out the bottoms of all containers. Debating on defol but not still waffling. Canna and skywalker started throwing pistils the other day, 2-3 days ago, SamOG is just so squat compared to when i've grown her in the past. I havent seen a an indica fan leaf pheno with her but looks like that's the case this time. Reminds me of CDLC. Toof Decay bushing but starting to spread out decently now. Can't wait for this one tbh. One of my favs.

  41. 12-12-22 ^^^ 5.8pH 550ppm 90sec feed AM
  42. 12-12-22 ^^^ mixed new feed tank. Came to the conclusion that the likely nitrogen toxicity was a result of not switching to the bloom feed a week or two ago. Note to self, as soon as pistils show, begin to change feed regiment. I'm not 100% this was it but from what I've read with others using Floraflex, seems likely. New feed tank today was mixed with 4tsp Bloom1, 4 tsp Bloom2, and 4tsp BulkyB BulkyB stats to use 1-5tesp per 5 gallon used... we erred on the low side for now and will adjust as needed throughout flower. Total PPM is currently around 650.. not a huge upturn on previous PPM values. Next feed mix we will up it to 1.5tsp bloom1/2 and potentially 2tsp per 5galon of BulkyB. These notes have proved useful for myself already, hopefully anyone else with similar issues will notice a similar pattern and can adapt. Otherwise, all 4 plants are blowing up pretty well. Will take pics later this week.

  48. 12-15-22 ^^^ 5.9pH 714ppm 95sec feed PM New growth on plants seems to verify the veg dosing was too long and should have started the bloom feed around week 3.5ish. Will note for future grows and flesh this out but new growth shows no signs of N tox and they hit their stretch hard.

I feel like it's pretty noticeable on the new growth where the curling has completely disappeared. Seems like Floraflex nutrients need to be switch from veg > Bloom around week 3-3.5 but I'm not 100% on this yet as it's my first run on this nutrient line. Otherwise things have been going well. You can see some gorilla tape on the cannacheese. She was growing so aggressively over night she was beginning to break her branches at the stem so I undid most of her LST wire and taped her and just letting her do her thing. I haven't had a plant grow this aggressively before, and I've grown some huge bushes from Mephisto that make this one seem small, but who knows.. theres a whole 1-1.5 months to go with this one. Skywalker has a lot of sites that are going to make it a huge yielder.

  27. 12-05-22 - ^^^ 5.6pH 714ppm 55sec feed PM - topped Cannacheese and skywalker.
  28. 12-06-22 - ^^^ 5.6pH 714ppm 55sec feed AM - took down the 5x5 and put up the 8x4, plants were without light for about an hour

  34. 12-09-22 (day 24) - ^^^ 5.7pH 550ppm 75sec feed PM - lower nutes and more frequent feeds, really seems to be aiding growth.

  40. 12-12-22 ^^^ mixed new feed tank.

  52. 12-18-22 ^^^ 6.0pH 714ppm 95sec feed AM Cannacheese showing some signs of light stress due to growing so wildly. Have grown CC many times and this is the first time I've had if grow as fiercely as it has. Always been a good yielder but this time may be wild compared to previous. Toof bushin out with Skywalker, though not as many nodes. Toof historically for me has always been low nodes but mega dense buds. Otherwise things going great since the switch to bloom nutes. Next tank will be in a day or two and will up the nutrients again.

  57. 12-20-22 ^^^ 6.1pH 1110ppm 130sec feed AM - super hungry, all of them. Growth is wild. Pretty sure toof and sky are going to have a dense production cycle. Cannacheese looks a lot like thje northern cheese haze pheno. First time i've had her like this. So long.. was really weak for a while and didnt take well to LST of any sort so broke the wires and let her go.. now shes formed some large knuckles and is beginning to grow a nice bark on the lower base. Flower nodes are widely spaced, maybe will have longer buds with her this time around. SamOG still squat and 4 days behind the others but taking the same feed schedule as her siblings, sink or swim. Few nodes sites but really starting to hit some stretch so maybe we will see some fat dense ones out of her. Everyone seems to really enjoy the floraflex line. I definitely feel I've seen better response, even through the mismanagement I did around weeks 2-4 with the veg feed and higher N levels. All that has disappeared since we switched to Bloom nutrient line. Definitely going to be putting in an order for a few bulk boxes of their nutrients for the next grow in February. I think I've got some more dialing in to do but this stuff seems to knock out the Canna Coco stuff I was using before. I'm a fan.
  58. 12-21-22 ^^^ Day 36 for the 3, 32 for SamOG - 6.1pH 1110ppm 2min feed AM

Everyones doing great. Cannacheese pouty due to lights stress and hadn't been fed yet this AM. Gonna head down to harbour freight and pick up a different model drain pump so I can drop the plants off the milk crates. Redneck engineered that setup a little too quick without some needed thinking ahead. Lessons learned as always. Automating has its own quirks you just have to experience some times to understand and figure out.

Toof Decay is throwing some purple pistil hairs so looks like she may be a dark one and quite on the nose already. Cannacheese throwing that northern cheese haze pheno hard it seems like. Smells like sweaty gym socks just like the first NCH grow I ever did. Can't wait to finish this grow, order a bulk order of those nutrients from Floraflex and get the full tent grow going in February.

  16. 11-28-22 - ^^^ 5.6pH 33 seconds feed Raised lights to 36" and dialed lights up to 85%
  17. 11-28-22 - mixed new reservoir.
Fun times.

  23. 11-30-22 - power went out for a few hours last night, woke up at 1am when power came back to get lights turned back off and quickly doctor crap before gettin back to bed.

  26. 12-02-22 - ^^^ 5.9pH 714ppm 30 sec feed AM.
She seems greener in most newer places and seems like the spotting has stuck to the current impacted areas only.

Everyone pushing big fruits right now. Canna cheese stopped stretching hopefully.... she's about 38" tall from base of stalk and up. TD and Sky are both about 28" tall but much wider/bushier than the Canna. They have easily twice as many node sites but the Canna looks like its going to bulk significantly. She's already frosting and has started the bulk phase. Gonna be a frosty January. The Sam OG finally got some love from me. Shes got a middle flower site that was being shadowed by her side branches. I tried to tie them down but it's hard to get in there with the current layout (future tweaks noted) I managed to tie a few down yesterday and over night the growth was significant. Middle stalk grew over half an inch.. so maybe time to catch the side branches still. Think we've dialed in the nutrients for the grow. I've been defoliating every 2 days on the 3 shrubby ones, 20-30 leaves per plant every time.. and it grows back with more bud sites and twice as many leaves. I havent had this problem before, i guess it's good lol. Air flow has sucked though. Need to grab 2-3 smaller fans before the flowers put on much more weight.

Really happy with this stuff so far. Think I've decided to purchase the 3gallon setup from floraflex now. a full tent of 5gallons is gonna limit me to 8 plants i think with the way they are growing in the 5gallons. If I push the 3gallons, i think I can stagger it for 15 plants. Clearly Im a glutton.
