Can you grow your new F1's under 12/12 with no problems?

Hi,

I'm going to pollinate a non-auto fem with some auto pollen. I intend to grow the F1 seeds from this under 12/12 lights from the off as the fem is sat based and will out grow my space.

Anyone see any problems with this? I've grown 12/12 before on a number of strains, but never for seeding.

the only issue is you will not know if the seeds will carry the auto trait but they will grow fine but finish smaller

I don't see why it wouldn't autoflower, by day 16-24 or maybe longer depending on the strain your crossing should show sex

Your not likely to see the auto trait in the F1's..usually 25% in the F2 will show, so you could grow the F1's 12/12 from seed and be fine..the f2 generation is when you'll wanna run your lights 24/0 and by the 24-25 day most of the autos will have shown themselves..I cull anything that doesn't auto and continue inbreeding the finest of the group..you should have a fully autoflowering plant by F3..if all goes well.

I think you missed the point if hes at 12/12 at the start all plants would flower so how do you spot the auto
and dirst said 25% would auto but that dependent on how dom the gene is

Cheers for the replies all. I'm not really looking for the auto in the F1's, as it usually won't show. As Dirt said, it's the F2 onwards where you're looking. On the F1 run I'm just going to select the best plants.
