Can I get stable seeds by selfing a plant grown from a reputable breeder like Mephisto?

Autoflower seeds can get expensive if you plan on growing a lot of them so I've been wondering if it's possible to get more by using colloidal silver to self pollinate a plant grown from seed bought from a reputable breeder such as Mephisto.

I know it's not the same as cloning and there will be some genetic deviation from the plant that provided the seeds but I'm not exactly sure how that works.

I have heard people mention recessive traits becoming dominant when selfing a plant like this.

So simply put, can I self pollinate an auto and get reliable auto seeds to grow a bunch more?

and

Could someone explain how the genetics will change when self-pollinating?

I haven't had any issues selfing plants and little variation. I am of the belief this is how breeders mass produce their seeds once they have stable genetics down.

one (and the most fun) way to know bud, hop in on the experiment and join us!

I reversed a chemdogging plants from mephisto this summer. (I did the CS spray)

I collected 5 vials of pollen, and am hoping to get some reversed seeds from it too!

Bottom line is that with good genetics, you will likely get some nice seeds, and if you are growing lots of plants, you can put up with the variation that you could run into. There is another discussion on this that you might want to have a look at here: https://www.autoflower.org/posts/2314081/

Shouldn't be an issue, but if your concerned, reverse one plant and pollenate a sister grown alongside... it'll cost ya 2 seeds, but if it alleviates a worry...

What would be the benefit/difference of pollinating a sister plant vs self-pollination of the plant treated with colloidal silver?

For a first round, chances are nothing would be different. Genetic anomalies tend to show up with selfing multiple times. But if your concern was defects, it's an easy workaround. Anytime your making seed, your tossing all of mom and dads genetics back into the bag and shaking. Most of Mephistos gear there isn't too much variation in any of their strains, plant to plant.
Either way, make sure to keep the reversing plant well Clear of any others you have running at the same time!
