We have all read the many post about not consuming any plants that have had contact with C/S.
While researching how to get rid of powdery milder I found this in my search.

Silver
Colloidal silver has long been used as a defense against algae in swimming pools and hydroponic systems. It serves to guard against plant attacking pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and fungi. Pathogens are literally suffocated to death by the tiny metal ions attaching to their respiratory systems. It is a completely safe control, as humans, plants and animals will not be harmed. It can be used in the germination process, as a soil soak or foliar application. In fact, colloidal silver has been known to strengthen many food bearing plants, including their immune systems. Marijuana plants will not be harmed in the least, as there is no such thing as overdose with colloidal silver.

This was found on another cannabis site which oddly enough has many post in their forum about not consuming plants that have had contact with C/S.
So does anyone really know or is it just a case of heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend?

It's exactly that. I don't think anyone really knows. I spray only 1 branch with CS and I would love to see someone actually test the buds that have not been sprayed to see if the silver is mobile within the plant. I suspect it's not because only the sprayed branch turns male. But that's just my guess. Without testing that's all anyone can do is guess.

C/S is "orally" consumable in small amounts. I don't think there has been any studies on inhalation... I would pass... edibles only.

AND (and this is a bigger issue than your PM...) spraying a female plant with CS will stop the ethylene production of the plant... causing male parts to pop up...

This is how many of us get female seeds. Reversing a female plant by spraying with colloidal silver. And using the pollen created on sister plants. Pollen is all XX, no Y chromosome to pass on.

Personally no, I grow 1 to be reversed, and once I start spraying, it is in another room. Once pollen is collected, it's chopped and removed. No issue with selfing to keep something from not getting lost (like dinafem seeds right now) but if I'm working with something for future stuff for myself & friends, I'd rather pollenate a sister.

Best option would be to self each one at a time, then mix it up in the future. Sometimes space, or other issues make that an impossibility.

I have smoked buds from every plant I've turned, and I really believe they are much harsher, and taste terrible compared to the plants I didn't turn.
Of course, I don't smoke the branches that I spray. They're all hermaphrodite flowers on those branches anyway :smoking:

Silver acetate interactions with nicotine and non-nicotine smoke components - PubMed (nih.gov)

Makes sense - They added it to cigs to help people not want to smoke them. Due to the unpleasant taste.
