brown tipped leaves

I have started 2 syrups and 2 fruit autos in a DWC/dri combo system. They look good and healthy except the tips of a couple of leaves on two plants (one fruit, one syrup) have turned brown. If this was a houseplant I would say they need more humidity, but I want to be sure. I do know I am having difficulty getting the PH of my water down to 5.5 - it tends to sit around 7. What product could I use to control this better?

Go to pet/fish store to buy pH product.....cheaper than indoor garden store. Use sparingly to to consistently decrease pH. Get pH testing kit. Brown leaves might be from over fertilizing, too. Are you letting tap water stand a day to vaporize cholrine?

I live on well water so there is no chlorine - the water is naturally hard and has a PH of about 7 - 7.5. I have been using PH stuff for fish tanks and have gone through one box already with the PH still rising up after a couple of days. My fertilizer rate is 1/2 because the, plants are still seedling size, and the room's humidity is at 45 - 50. Fresh air could be an issue because it is an interior room in the basement, but as it is also my sewing room and I spend time down there frequently and have not noticed it seeming stale. The house is heated with forced air which creates a forced air exchange throughout anyway. I have a fan in the room to give some light breeze on the plants.

your ph is way way to high and will lock out above 6.3
either buy ph down or get some hydroponic hard water nutrient with a buffer in it

I use a drop of lemon juice per gallon of water to bring down pH. Make sure to measure pH after you add the nutes, not before.

I grow organic and feed R/O de-ionized water with some nutes at 5.5-5.8 on the pH on the water and I get tiny brown tips as well. Always have. Never bothered me.

It's just the tips of some (not all) of the leaves on two of the four plants. I want to make sure I catch any problems before they actually become a problem. We have a 5 micron filter on the water supply to try and control the mineral content. I will be changing my water soon and I will make sure I set it up and treat it for PH before I put it back in place. My first time, so its all a learning curve!
