Broad mite russet mite control thread .

Luckily friend it's not broad or russets they are way to small to see with the naked eye an once they're damage is found its insane how quickly they destroy a crop within days nice looking plants become brown messes .I was not able to rid my indoor set up of them an was very depressed about this but have found the only way to kill them is through heat treatments of 115_125 degrees .I just recently noticed damage in my greenhouse but after a heat treatment it definitely slowed .I mix my sulfur in water making a slurry first it must be mixed well or it will clog your sprayer I use a chemical sprayer that has a battery an basically an atomizer sprayer an I hit them hard .This an using a puffer of diamatous earth will stop most bugs dead in there tracks the plus side is its 100 % organic .
Oh thank goodness! Thanks for the reply bro!
:thanks:

Hi Dankstyle, I've lost 3 gardens to russet mites before. The sulfur spray works very well. I hit them every day with something diffrent for 2 weeks straight. Another effective spray would be isopropyl diluted. So, I do a light dilution of each with an atomizer spray. Sulfur, water + enzymes, and then isopropyl alternating everyday for 2 weeks straight. I do not skip a single day. After the 2 weeks. Rinse the plants with a plain water for 2 days. Then russume back to my normal ipm. Russets and broads are very difficult to fight off but It can be done.

Thank you very much for the response if you feel up to dropping the ratios an mixtures of the sprays I would love it an it could help tons of growers fight this horrible problem I used heat on mine an found that to be a excellent way to combat them since I had an outside source a cherry plum tree outside my greenhouse with millions on it .Heat works as well friend .

Here's what I call my "WAR SPRAY". All measurements are per gallon. Remember this must be done every single day for two weeks in veg or early flower. For the sulfur, I use Bondies citrus, fruit and nut orchard at 1/4 cup with 2 tablespoon of dish soap. The Isopropyl spray will consists of 2 cups of 99% iso. 4 to 5 cups if its lower strength like the common 40% at the super market. The 3rd day spray is just plain tap water with nukem enzymes at 3 tablespoons.

I use a Hudson atomizer sprayer. I hit everything on the plant, under, over, the stems and pots too. With a 2 gallon mix I able to hit 60 full grown plants in veg in about 40 mins including set up and clean up. Please, adapt this to whatever method you are using to spray your plants with.

After I got russet mites, spider mites became a joke. Mites can not develop immunity to these sprays. Hope this helps!

Thank you for the reply an the mixture should help tons of growers beat bugs that seem unbeatable I to had some success using sulfur but indoors it was a lot harder then in my greenie where there enough natural predators an heat to discourage insects making it a bad place for a broad mite to be .

I agree with the GH. Heat will smoother and kill baddies. The iso sprays drys up their outer shell (carapace) and exposes their inards killing them. This includes shell of their eggs.
One of the reason people fail with predatory mites is they don't maintain proper humidity, also drying them up.
