Upon working w/ some patients that find some difficulty in some kinds of pollenation for one reason or another might find this an easy and fairly cheap alternative
The supplies needed really aren't much at all
1.card board -box large enough for two or what ever desired number will be
2.Roll duct tape-
3.two hospital grade filters- (found at any local hardware,or wal-m$%t type store)
the filter must be a small enough micfilteration to
remove POLLEN it will say on the package
4.Razor knife-
5.a low wattage cfl/timmer- can be used to maintain light schedules for longer
duration pollenation
6.small desk fan for air circulation
It it very simple really..
Step 1.just cut one hole in each side of the box on opposite sides slightly smaller than the size of th the filter
Step 2. put filter over hole and use duct tape to seal around the edges and stick the filter to the box
While doing step 2 it needs to be noted the flow of the filter and which dir it is supposed to flow
The idea is to apply the filter so on one side fresh air coming into the box is filtered and on the other side the opposite would apply
The filter on the opposite side would be fresh air flow from inside of box outside
Step 3. cut a tiny hole on top of box that is to covered w/ tape but can be opened to spray plants from above to render pollen inert for opening box for plant maintenance
Step 4. is really just put plants in box unless one wanted to install a small plug in spot light w/ a small cfl that won't raise heat much but will maintain light schedule if wanted and install small corner fan for interior circulation if one wishes
but the point of this project is one can grow a male in this box for extended period and introduce females as wanted for a day or to to ensure pollination then spray down to stop others from getting pollen on them when put back into the room
but this box if careful can be used inside of the flower room and the filters will stop the pollen from being flown about the grow room everywhere
and after a good spray...a soaking spray into the box it will stop open pollen from scattering around
