The Wire is awesome but I can relate to Breaking Bad more. The desperation at the desert in the first episode got me hooked instantly

Is meth a huge problem in America? It hasn't really made an impact in uk not that I'd know anyway but thought if it was here it'll be used alot more. I think younger generations around my age tend to stay away from what's considered bad drugs alot more now...like it anyone of my mates done a few lines of coke that's seen as fine but if they pulled out crack everyone would rip into them. Maybe that's why meth hasn't kicked off over here.

Meth is a HUGE problem in parts of the US. Many over the counter (available without a Dr's prescription) cold meds, have been pulled off the shelves and placed behind the pharmacy or under lock and key because they are used to make pseudo-meth. You even have to show identification and there's also a limit as to how many you can purchase in a given amount of time. Rural areas are more prone to being over run with meth, due to the fact that you need a semi-secluded area to do the toxic "cook" and there's also a very high chance of it exploding as you do it. Crystal Meth is easy to make "domestically", meaning you dont have to import the drug into your community. When the government became more strict on cocaine and the importing of cocaine, drug lords looked into a synthetic coke that they could produce inside the country of origin, rather than shipping it across borders. The result...a new drug called Crystal. Much the same way the prescription painkiller Oxycontin and other opiates became popular, due to the crackdown on Heroin, and the same way high grade Marijuana is so prevalent now, because of it being harder to import from other countries, the way it was once done...now people just grow their own, or run large scale grow operations, on their native land. The Feds can close down the borders and not let anything through... it won't stop people from getting high though! A true addict, an Mj user or a dedicated drug dealer will always find a way to get their "fix"!

Hope that gives you a little history on this evil drug. Breaking Bad is a great show and i can't wait for the next season! i'm pretty sure its the last too

I have personally seen friends from my past get truly ruined and some die from meth.As a rule the midwest and the west coast of the US are just wrecked with it.But its truly everywhere and that really bugs me,ALOT!people say legalize ALL drugs?Id have to disagree with that.they should regulate alcohol way better,decriminalize Marijuana(At the least) use certain things for Medical practices as far as other schedule 1 drugs go and thats it in my humble opinion.But dont mind me I aint slept in over two days.LOL! I hear it is a really sweet show though .
