Hey guys,

I was wondering if any Blackstar Chrome users out there could help me out with your experiences, tips and any tricks you may have picked up along the way?. I have just ordered the 270w version from Gotham Hydro but should have done more research before doing so.

I have now heard mixed things about the Chrome series. Some people seem to be struggling to find it's sweet spot or say that it's light distribution is not very even. Others have reported ill looking plants and bleaching, but at the same time i've read a good few reports of the Chrome series working wonders..

I'm growing in a space 6'x2', with my 400w hps covering half of that (3'x2') and the chrome taking care of the other. Box height is 1700mm.

I can't wait to have a tinker and a play when my new unit arrives, and will happily share my findings back with you guys. Any info you can lend would be very much appreciated :)

Stay safe AFN!

Thanks for posting this question, Pyxis :smokebuds:

I've been looking into the Chromes as well and would love to hear some first-hand experiences.

Hello boys. I'm having issues with my BS Chrome 270 watt FSF. My plants don't seem to like it. At all. I've tried raising it and lowering it and they just seem to hate it in every position.
I swapped out the chrome for a regular BS 240 watt and the plants went back to normal.....

Here's an example

I also did the same experiment with some vegging photos. Same problems, droopy, and yellowing leaves under the chrome and nice and perky and green with the 240.
There's also 2 on/off switches on the chrome. One turns 4 lamps off and the other turns 2 lamps off. Can't find any info about that either.
So far I'm not very happy with it. $420 up in smoke :smokebuds:

how many hours do you have it on your plant?... I notice I can have two plants going and after apx 10 hrs one plant (the same plant) always droops like yours and in the morning it's all perked up and ready to grow ...does your plant perk up overnight?....I'm using a t-5 setup..
can you get a refund...90 day money back?

I've done both 20/4 and 24 and the same results. I have a good relationship with Gotham Hydro so I think I may email them and see if I can trade it in for something else.
Just curious if anyone else is having issues before I do.

" Essential oil production from plants that can tolerate the increased PAR is typically increased by 15-20% under the Blackstar Chrome."

Hmmm, that caught my eye.

just wondering if your plant is all perked up when you turn the light back on... I took some pics of my two plants one getting droopy at the end of the day the other growing strong and a pic of them in the morning all perked up ready to grow. ...I've read that mj can go 24/7 but I after this I think they need a res,t or maybe some do..... I posted this queston on a post with the same answer coming back.so I just turn the light off after apx 10 hrs ..could be the strain? anyway I'm thinking about a led and was looking the chrome .. the solar flare looks good but no $$$ for that
