Just wondering if anyone has crushed a tablet up and mixed it in to the medium as fertiliser. I know you dont really need too but im curious to know if they break down too fast and burn the plants or if it works like anyother slow release fert.

I'd imagine it'll break down too fast. The more surface area for water to break it down the quicker it will break down. I have only gone as far as splitting in 2 to disperse more evenly throughout pot :pass:

Before someone more knowledgeable pitches in, If you search around the forum then ya you will people saying it is ok to ground up half a tab and feed it via the top soil. There is no nasty build up of salts when using Biotabs (so also no need to water till runoff), and the plant will take what nutrients it needs, rather than being force feed salt based nutes. So I think it is harder to burn the plants with Biotabs.


FWIW a normal Biotab takes 3 months to dissolve and of course always best to just follow the instructions.
