It basically boils down to not having a lot of space and I find this a good way of starting them off. Not had much luck doing normal transplants (I'm a clumsy bastard) with bits breaking off etc. Had great success using the instatransplant method on my last 2 grows. The older plant hasnt had a great start in general with me leaving it in the dark too long after sprouting and having to remove the shell as well. I agree I moved her into the bigger pot too late and caused root bounding so I just decided to put her in a slightly larger pot and see how she does.

Youngest one is looking nice and healthy and I'm happy with the way she's growing. Thanks for the advice, could you pop into my perpetual diary from time to time and let me know what you think?

Cheers

No prob! I understand pieces breaking off. If you use clear cups you should be able to see the root growth. If you transplant too early they can fall apart. But if done properly there is no harm at all and the plant will do better. Just offering my help. Regardless, Biotabs like bigger pots. So make sure 2 gal or more. Good luck!

You know I'm a massive dog fan same as you @Vapo69 plus your plants look great my friend

Low temps will keep things shorter as well. How low are your temps? You should see some stretching if you are in 12/12 and turned off the Blurple. Basically if you want them to stretch, they need less light. They will stretch looking for the light if you deprive them. More so than if you have too much light. Plants stretch if they need more. Peace, slow

Hey slow! Temps are running in the low 70s whereas I usually prefer mid and upper, not the end of my world. The heaters gotta go on soon anyway — good grief Octover already!

Maybe it was the lighting all along? I was running them at 40” to start and figured that was plenty.
OK here we are with update.

Grrr... so mad a myself for not paying attention. Too much other stuff going on and none of it getting the proper attention. Work, personal life, garden. . . Ah well they are hardy stock despite my carelessness. We should do OK but nothing like I know I can do.

I hear ya, my grow is less than stellar as well. Thanks for the update. :pass:
