Since I use the smallest airpots, 3.5ltr, I experienced all the problems with watering...glad I only had two! BUT...I recognized the potential....so I adjusted a few things.
1: move the bottom tray to the very bottom...allows bottom feeding.
2: As medium is loaded, every 2 ", lightly spray with a soapy solution. Allows much better absorbtion and never become hydrophobic.
3: Whittle on a solo cup so it leaks fast...insert into the top of the airpot and firmly pack around it. Then you can water the center much easier.
