New Grower Best LED Grow Light On a Budget

Try doing a little reading over at the DIY LED forum. Smo and Pop22 are the resident geniuses over there. Both really know their stuff cold. MY suggestion if you are really interested in checking this out I would start around page 10 in that forum and read my way backwards towards the front page. One of the nice things about reading backwards is that you get threads that have been solved and discussed (sometimes to excess) so that you can recognize what you are getting in to and how to handle it. If you go COBS you will definitely want to pay attention to your light heights a you can fry one like an egg if you are careless. And if done right they are pretty much the poor man's Porsche.

Thanks for the info I will do that :pass:

I replied to the pm before reading this thread. As mentioned in the pm not all cobs are created equal and cobs are not a miracle light. Just like the red and blue leds these cheaper cobs offer very little benefit as far as efficiency goes. Efficiency is what determine how much light per watt your actually receiving. The above lights are very very low as far as that goes. The DIY section is a great place to start. But don't click buy it now until you read up and understand EFFICIENCY

What light did you go for in the end? I just moved from HPS to LED (Vipar) week later I returned and went to grow northern.

A quality COB is a great replacement for HID lighting
Yea no such cob I guess (I dunno) is cob name given to the shape of a light or what?? But I got the Telos 008 from Grow Northern.. Came across this post as I am looking for some complimentary lighting to give my tent a boost.

Cob is a type of light. A cob is basically a bunch of smaler leds on a chip. Cob-Chip On Board. You have a good light from what I have read here on afn.

Yea the Telos came highly recommended from a few members on here and also there is a chick from Belgium who grows some great plants with the same light.

Will repost pics later without a friend's face lol
