Old Reviews BadBoy T5 vs LED

Im getting ready to put together a LARGE CFL setup in a 6x6x6 tent. I did a lot of looking around on ebay and I managed to get an amazing price. I will be using 8 6 bulb light fixtures. So thats 48 bulbs. Half will be 2700k and other half 6500k. Both spectrums work the best for autos form my experience. 6500k bulbs are 23w and 2700k bulbs are 18ww. All together it will cost no more than $250 shipped. All new items. Yes you have to change bulbs every year but that is wayyy cheaper then what companies are charging for good LED setups

$250 a year on light bulbs plus your electric bill makes it an expensive set up IMO,why not save a little longer and shoot for a couple of blackstars or a badboy T5,no changing bulbs with led and your gonna have some big heat with 48 cfl's on the go.

its not 250 for bulbs. The fixtures are the most expensive part. bulbs are like $60. Thats reasonable. Plus i can spread them out and even distribute the light. With 1 led light it wont cover my 6x6 area well. I plan to have 50-60 autos under the cfls after they show sex and i i transplant them into their bigger pots. Will keep them under there for 2 weeks then move them under hps to finish the flower cycle.

48 cfl's for 60 bucks...hmmm, i can't buy em that cheap around here. i'm guessing, 48 bulbs at 5 to 8 bucks...each, is goinna run you 240, to 400 bucks, just for the bulbs. your heat is gonna be high with all that hot porcelain base on each cfl. power consumption, even tho an "energy saver" type bulb, would be well over the LED...by far. your setup looked good that you have. cfl's are usually for guys with limited space.

Yea Buddy I got the info I needed and picked up another magnum + for a hell of a price since I am a repeat customer! Now waiting on the first gl145 and both magnums will be in it for the first upgrade. After taxes I will get another gl145 to seperate the magnums or just get two more if I want to blow it up for a while! :booya:

Read it and Weep....

ok well i finally heard from sylvania. they claim they know nothing on T5 bulbs. so i checked with GE's site..the original question being...how long before the beneficial spectrum to plants begins to deteriorate? here is what i did find on their site...Mean Lumens; The average light output of a lamp over its rated life. Based on the shape of the lumen depreciation curve, for fluorescent and metal halide lamps, mean lumens are measured at 40% of rated lamp life. For mercury, high-pressure sodium and incandescent lamps, mean lumen ratings refer to lumens at 50% of rated lamp life.
WOOT! Very smart! Go straight to the source. The hydro guy while may still have your best interests in mind, will definitely have his best interests in mind. And too much false info floats around cannabis forums. +Rep & Like'd

yeah, it depends on the manufacturer. for instance sylvania...who claims they know nothing about T5's in their email reply, has one that has a 25,000 hour average bulb life. so, doing the math on that bulb, at 20 hours per day, considering use on autoflowering plants, 16.5 months use maximum....lamps life on others were...ge 36,000, plus rite 20,000, phillips 35,000, halco 24,000, hygrade 20,000, etc.source...http://1000bulbs.com/search/?q=T5+ho

FEI... the math is...expected bulb life minus 60% then divided by 20(hrs) then divided by 30 days. so aside for the upfront cost, looks like the LED's prove cheaper to operate. this one looks even cheaper, with no fans to draw power...http://shop.haightsolidstate.com/main.sc... too bad they don't offer a substantially longer warranty length, or i'd try one! good grows to all!

they look like they ROCK redeye....if i only had gobbs of money, i'd take 6 of the 336 eco's they have on their site. can only dream for now...haha.
