Thank you for hopping on this, just a curiosity question from someone who had run extensive numbers to tell a difference.

Hello all, general question, do autoflowers typically take longer to finish outside vs inside under controlled lighting? General thoughts/experiences

Yup @R3LOADABLE ..... :headbang: ....especially if the weather turns bad.......

Man it all depends on the strain, the conditions, etc. There is not definite answer. Start with what you're wanting to grow and then go from there.

Autoflowers require lots of light . Unless it's getting 18+ hours of intense light a day it will never produce the optimum yeild . With that out of the way you could choose a high yielding auto and get an alright yeild from from it outdoors with less than 18hrs of light . If I were to pick a auto strain for yeild outdoors I would try to find one that flowers after 5 plus weeks of vegative growth . Strains that are lowryder dominate start flowering at 3-4 weeks from seed and are not worth the time outdoors as the plants only end up being 1-2ft in height once finished with skimpy leafy yeilds.

Hey Slater, I'm from the UK too, I made a cosey little flowerbed for 9 autoflowers. I planted them around a week ago. The flowerbed gets around 7 hours of direct sunlight and 4 hours of normal sky light. It's 50/30/20 soil/Coco/perlite. I'm hoping this second incoming heatwave this month will give them some good growth. The plants are deffinately not growing bushy or squat. The stems are getting elongated. Il have to LST them.

I resulted to outdoors because this energy price cap increase is unbelievable. And another increase in October... I think il have to end my hobby. :(

This is my first outdoor run, and honestly? Unless I get minimum 10 hours direct sunlight with no clouds I wouldn't bother with outdoor. From what I can already see at least.

I would love to grow outside but my house backs onto a school.
