planning on topping and cloning in 2 weeks and hoping for 2-3 clones each to add to fabric pots, so maybe 3 to 4 plants a pot.
also thinking i'll top dress about week 6.

have friend who swears by double dip in gel and powder, i find just gel is good enough.

better not be a flea and just dirt on my clone stem, cat is now banned from house for summer.

did 3 clones, 1 just rooting gel and 2 double dip. see if roots come quicker on the double dip

Are all these autos? If so isn't cloning a waste of time with them?

I've done a lot more photos than autos but am under the impression that cloning them just gives you a plant much like a branch that would have grown better on the plant it came from.

I like dipping in gel and powder myself but haven't been able to find any fresh gel this season and need to get some cuts ASAP.

I'm going to have to keep an eye on this one and maybe learn a thing or three. :pop:

yes all auto and i'm just doing for fun , i've only cloned a few autos and they only give me single cola tiny plant so ya waste of time. i 've been reading @Autobeast post on topping so i try that and cloning for some fun. plus, i got a mate who say you can only grow one plant a pot and you can't clone autos, i had to do it after that :yellowcard:.

i like the gel the best, easy to work with, i've double dipped before with photo clones and i'm not sure it matters.

cheers mate, happy smoking:jointman:

You can clone autos but that's all you do get is a small cola. I've grown 5 or 6 plants in the same 2.5gal pots for a SoG grow and up to 16 plants in one RubberMaid tub doing DWC. There's a bro-science myth going around for years that one plant in a pot will take dominance over any others sharing that space and the others won't thrive. As long as there's enough food to keep them all happy they'll all do fine. Best to be clones from the same mother so their growth rates and patterns are very similar. If indoors and doing a SoG you start flowering when they are still pretty small and use selective defoliation so light can penetrate better. I bought 26 square 9L pots to so a SoG with in the future. A 5x5 pot block of them will fit in a 4x4' space with a few inches to spare so could do a nice 25 plant SoG under one 600W HPS with them.

45gal seems like overkill to me but they sure won't want for space to grow. For photos that are going to veg for 8 weeks and end up 12ft tall up to 100gal is normal tho I'm sure 45gal could grow a pretty big pot tree. I must have about 45gal soil mix total for my garden grow this year in an 8x8' space. Only 8 plants now that I removed the one male to donate pollen indoors.

I've got cuttings to root in a glass of water before so the gel and powder is probably overkill too but I always get 100% rooted so like to stick with what works.

I look forward to seeing how these finish. I had been growing in the ground the last few years, but went for pots this year (long story) and have sizes between 5 and 10 gallon. The 5's (marked as 5 gallon but look like about 3.5 gallon actual capacity) are just too small, the plants in those are all tall, stretchy, and always hungry. The 7's are doing better overall, but the short wide 10's are by far making the best plants of this group. Lesson learned. Nothing smaller than a 10 gallon if I have a reason to plant in pots outdoors in the future. Overall, I would say they are about half the size (or less) of the ones I grew in previous years in the ground, in well seasoned raised beds. Root space matters.

I would imagine your 45g are about as much root space as an auto can use. Have you grown in these pots before?

clones are done but weather has been nasty, so i wait till tonight or tomorrow and add them.

going to try and do outdoor sea of green because i have to keep topping my plants below my fence so no one can see them.

no i've never grown in something that big before. i trade clones for them and thought i'd do photo plants in them, maybe next year. way too easy just going straight in ground with plants.

last year in the ground vs. this year in 7gal. pots... no comparison.
