Grow Mediums AutoPots. I'd like opinions on my possible purchase.

Damn that's expensive! I bought a 36 pound bag of Epsoma Garden Tone for $42 shipped! I've been feeding both indoor plants and my raised beds for 2 years now on it and still have more than half a bag! Organics should not be expensive. Yeah they claim to add lot of microbes, I did the same by adding fresh worm castings. But I'll be interested to see how it works for you.
Hey @pop22 - that's the basic 3-4-4? No other amendments other than worm castings? Do you top dress at some point? And how soon before planting do you let that cook or not? I was thinking of trying a side by side for shits and giggles.

I sometimes top dress with EWC and a week or so into flower, I'll top dress with a handful of the Epsoma or whatever I happen to e using. Usually I like to just let them grow with just water added, no top dressing etc.

Here's the soil recipe I use:

Two weeks is a little quick but as long as the soil is not generating heat you should be ok, I've done it to no ill effect.
I didn't quite understand what you meant by this originally but I think I get it now. If the volume of soil is higher the temp will still be too hot for young plants as it composts. Is this what you mean?

Coorect! The aount of soil in a pot under 10 gallons is not going to heat up enough to matter

Here is the facts ans science proving that "drainage material" is a myth and bad for your plants!

I think I'll be using fabric pots as well. There have been a few comments pop22 was making about hydrolysis in relation to other asking about using hydroton clay pebbles and I can see how that might create issues with wicking in the wrong medium. Either way, I take the advice. I can always throw one in a pot later to see how it performs. Plenty of time for that. :)

Good article. I'll be mixing my ingredients and skip the layering. Plan to mix up a small batch of super soil that I had planned anyway and will let that cook for a few months. Bought a small bag of epsoma garden tone too and going to mix a few pots of that using your new recipe vs the earth dust for my comparison & the autopots are on the way. This is going to be an interesting next 6 months. Thanks again!

So not even a whole 3 weeks from my last post here and things are going rather well. Maybe too soon to tell but I mixed up my "super soil" and it's cooking away on the back side of my house. Looking forward to my winter grow for that. I also made some small batches of the earth dust with roots organic and pops mix using roots organics original soil, epsoma 4-4-4, worm castings, cow manure, coco coir and some added per-lite to both.

The first pic is 5 photo period Bodhi - Sky Lotus (not sure sex yet of course) in organic mixes just mentioned. The 6 smaller plants in solo cups are also photo period Bodhi - Waking Dream in HP Promix just about to be transplanted to more organic mix. All on 18/6 under autocobs. The second pic is this morning. The sky lotus were re-transplanted into 2 gal fabric pots and the waking dream plants all in 2.5 qt until next week when I'll transplant again into 2 gal fabric pots and probably top dress and switch over to my bigger tent to flip over to flower. They look pretty happy so far. Thanks for the nudge back over to organics @pop22! Looks like they love it!
