Lighting AutoCob, Auto Flower, megacrop thread.

Welp guys I've hit a lil snag and need a lil assistance

I got 6 sodk in autopots that arent looking too good close to day 80 and the growth has been very slow pretty much the entire grow so many times i just wanted to scrap this run and start fresh

Edges of leafs have been yellowing and dying off i pluck off some and the healthy ones begin fading/dying as well this isnt the usual end of life fade as its been persistent from day 35 on

I'll still end up being able to harvest some super sticky frosty bud but no where near how much it should be

Running megacrop at around 2-3g/gal sc and calmP at 1g i went up to 4g/gal a few feeds and they really didn't like it so backed things down i also hit them with a recharge tea from time to time

I know should be 1cob per plant but this last week or 2 they will only have 4 as they r small as shit anyways cobs 25in above the girls

They were started in soil and transplanted into the autopots with coco maybe this could be the culprit

Mine did samething but worse. Bad calmag deficiency in pro mix. Just used MC added other brand for calmag, bud ignitor, hammerhead. When I upped to 10 ml of calmag is seemed to do the trick, but damage was done. I have 3 autocobs and I heard you need extra calmag with them and I believe it lol. 2 of the 3 didnt develop. I am not sure what the problem was I may have over trained them with supercropping but going to get their lineup and not try to mix brands. Gotta burn off what I have. After xmass I will get rest from Greenleaf when I do my nutrient order.

I use MC, CM, SC, and BE with soil and rainwater MC makes the pH of my rainwater drop upon mixing. I pH up to 6.4 after mixing it up and the pH creeps up 0.05 per day until it usually stabilizes between 6.7-6.8 No wild swings just a slow creep up and after a week I might pH back down, but by then I need to refill the rez again anyhow. I have been testing the pH in the trays occasionally also and it has been right where the rez is.

I will never be an expert on plant issues, but doesn’t that look more like the result of nute burn? Starting up top and dying from the edges inward. I don’t see any fading / chlorosis between the veins or any other sign of deficiencies on those pics. Although, it looks like advanced zinc deficiency, but I think you said it started at the top of the plant and zinc starts at the bottom. In addition, usually there is plenty of zinc in most products and tap water so that leads back to pH issues causing nutrient lockout. Do you calibrate your meter regularly and do you check the water in the tray occasionally? Or perhaps you just have a low feed strain.

Wish I could be more help, heck I think I just muddied the waters for you. :smoking:Good luck. :karmacloud:
Great insight, i haven't calibrated the meter in a while maybe a month or so nute burn could be a issue as ppms where a tad high for the autopots i ran ro water as well but the damage is definitely done im leaning towards doing a few runs only mc and add in others as needed so i can dial things in

Edit: I checked my meter and it was definitely off now that its calibrated im hoping for sone improvement

What do you start out with on your seedlings? The bag calls for .7 tsp in veg, which is pretty much what I fed throughout the later half of my last grow.

I started with about a quarter of what I used, hope that's okay!

I usually hit them with 1st feed on day 5 then 1gram a gal of megacrop and so on megacrop is simple just gotta tinker around to dial it in

This was a problem I ran into and never got much help with . To much or not enough was one of my biggest struggles. I was seeing the burnt tips and leaves like this so I immediately assumed I was over feeding. One day I did my first foliar feed trying to increase calcium and I saw a positive difference. I continued with different types of nutrients and kept seeing these problems stop and almost turn around in health. That’s when I knew I was under feeding. Burnt tips can be from a phosphorus or potsssium deficiency.

They also mention light burn but at your height I think you are fine, The increase in light intensity could increase the uptake of nutrients that could make it worse.

Fuck! That makes a lot sense, I was trying to walk the fine line of not giving to much so I didnt have a nitrogen toxicity. I wouldnt be surprised if I was under feeding them. You come through with some great info again @BigSm0!

Hopefully it helps and works.

I don’t see it now but I’m sure I read it here that burnt tips (which is not reallywhat you have) can be caused by phosphorus deficiency too. For most growers they tend to back off on nutrients at that stage when it’s the opposite. I struggled so much here. Reading peoples success with greenleaf and following others high dosages really helped my plants significantly. I was under feeding and now I’m feeding properly and a much higher quality combination.

I think that was it, my ph wasnt sure what my ph should be in pro mix? I think it should be like hydro???? Thoughts anyone...

I always thought soil ph should be between 6.0 and 7.0. At least that's what I keep my nutes at when mixing. Also, I let the newly mixed nutes sit for 2-3 hours and then measure ph. I remember reading somewhere it will move then settle during those couple of hours. I have started checking solutions that I have that are multiple days old, and the ph has consistently dropped. Just my experiences!

I always thought soil ph should be between 5.5 and 6.5.
I have never used promix so have no idea how it is treated but I have always gone by:
  • Soil – 6.0-7.0 pH
  • Hydro/Soilless/Coco – 5.5-6.5 pH
And I have used these charts for both hydro and soil over the years.
