Auto amnesia: nutrient deficiency or toxicity

FFOF has a steep learning curve because it is precharged with some long lasting elements and others that last only weeks? You need to know when to start feeding by looking at the plant. Consequently it ends up in the infirmary a lot. The most common problem is overfeeding and Cal-mag. It has dolomite lime and that alone should be enough for the grow. Then most peeps tap water has calcium - some in large amounts. Then you add the Cal-mag mania to it and plants suffer :yoinks:

I am a hydro grower because I cannot lift a 7 gallon pot of soil. Pumps do all of my heavy lifting. If you want to grow the best plants in soil I think the new Earth Box is the way I would go. At minimum True Living Soil in a 7 gallon pot.

Here is a link to some work I am doing on nutrients:

Have fun!
Considering my inexperience I plan on using virtually no extra nutes unless I see early signs of it needing more. Knowing that it won’t need anymore nutes for probably somewhere around 6 weeks or more Should make the grow more manageable. Who knows maybe I won’t even need to add any additional nutes the entire run.

Just give it a go mate and observe what happens , Observation is the best tool you have , then next time you will have a better understanding .

Might want to try FFHappyFrog. Less intense than OF and kept mine going 3/4 weeks before needing nutes.

I've become interested in Octopots, which look to be basically similar to EarthBoxes -- With a reservoir at bottom, aeration screen cover with media above that, and reservoir-to-media wicking chambers. Are they similar and how would you compare EarthBoxes and Octopots?
[Sorry for going off-topic].

Cked out the website, not bad for a wicking system. Was thrown off by the pic of adding fert through a hole, bright, light blue crystals....seen that too much in my life.
