hey dude, welcome to AFN my man... been smoking over half my life, and I would say auto's are on par if not better because your growing them your self. Auto's are like photo's, yes some strains will be weaker than others but with careful selection from the right breeders (mephisto. fastbuds, denifem to name a few) auto's can go head to head with photo's any day of the week... Alien v's Triangle by Mephisto has been tested at 27%... I smoked some of the strongest shit in my life the other day and it was an auto plant... took me by surprise, had to try it twice but yes it put me on my ass, Candy Caramelo by Zambeza seeds.

Hey and welcome.
Sorry you have had such a poor experience. Some are weaker, true, but there are so many strains out now that are potent as you need them to be. As everyone has said check out some of the more favored strains here and I am sure you won't be disappointed. But, the proof is in the pudding, so pick a couple and grow them out, you'll see. Even better do that and create a journal!

cool ... thanks everyone ... actually since ordering my first seeds (random first buy , just picked a strain i liked) i did my homework and bought a shit load of other auto gentics (fastbuds , MEPHISTO ,durch passion , sesi seeds ,humbolt seeds,marijuana-seeds autos ) that i havent got to plant yet .. so cool most likely i ordered some bullshit .. n to be honest they were cheap $25 for 5 is rare , most the decent ones are $30-35 for 3 lol .. ok thankss

I think this is a discussion that needs to be revisited every 6 months to a year. Lol. Things are progressing soo fast in the growing world. I tend to lean towards the original post.. Yes.. Autos can hold their own.. I think the question is can they hold their own against their photo parents... The GG#4 clone only cut for example..it is not going to smoke like or grown like or look like, a GG auto thats been crossed. I think the original post was more about comparing autos to their name sakes. And in that scenario I sort of agree that autos are a little weaker in certain aspects, than their photo parents. But again, things are advancing quickly.. Soon we'll have 40% THC regs and 30% thc autos. But for now, I'd still say we are the little brother. Lol

It can also be argued, as one post said earlier, that weed now is becoming almost too potent. I dare say 99% are laughing and saying "you can never have to strong a smoke", but seriously, if a 27% THC smoke does not satisfy, you should be worried about you mental health.
Also for too long we have had to battle the anti weed press regards so called "Super Skunk" etc for sending little Johnny into psychosis, that all we need is a 30/40% THC and we will be crucified.

It really depends on the grower ,I grew a mephisto indica Walter an automatic version of kromes the white leaning on the indica side and when I went to the dispensary with my mom I saw a photo version of the same strain one of there top shelf offerings and a popular seller ,but with out a doubt my Walter was better in terms of bag appeal taste and affect the owners at the dispensery could tell it right away and mentioned they wish there's had a mango taste ,still mine is untested for THC and there's was an had met the guidelines to be sold in Oregon mine is again untested but tests don't mean better and THC is just one cannabiod in hundreds,the affect of good marijuana has lil to do with just one cannabiod and the entourage affect comes into play,plain and simple terpenes and the other cannabiods play a much bigger affect.

Amen to the Amen. And yes, it aint all about the THC. So many variables.

I say, most auto growers care more for their plants than photo growers, who I guess are more profit orientated. Just my humble........and a good dry and cure works wonders for a fine smoke.

only talking about this other day... I hate the buzz words "super skunk", they are our enemy in the UK... words that stand in our way of decriminalisation.
